Dr. Firaz Richard Hosein, DO

Usually, when life sends you to the emergency room, you already know you are in for a bad day. I thought however I had insight in how to reduce this trauma by going somewhere I felt fully confident in after recently dealing with my dads heart surgery. I took myself to Broward North as I saw them treat my father very well. Boy was that a mistake. After having a medical emergency, I went to their emergency room, and ultimately wound up admitted. I was brought to the stroke unit as my issue seemed to be my brain. Upon arrival the issues started. I was told that my dietary needs could not be met as my food allergy required a Dr to verify it, my word was not good enough. Tired, scared and hungry, I was made to wait….and wait… and wait.. I had NO food offered to me for 1 and a half days. I asked multiple times to speak to a dietician, or anyone that could help me and repeatedly my request was ignored. I also was left without water. It took my family supplying me with… drinks from home to get liquid. I watched my room mate served and helped while I was literally ignored. I finally had a dietician arrive after one and a half days and food started that evening, nearly 2 days after arrival. I was given a menu that catered to my food allergy, and was then told after ordering that they had nothing in stock on the menu. Big disappointment! I finally received a big cup of water on the one and a half day mark as well. Seems to be unreasonable to not give any food or water to a patient who is sick. It felt like I was in jail and being tortured. I was assigned to a primary care physician (Dr Hosein) and a specialist to work on my diagnosis, I underwent many tests and ultimately my specialist had the answer, and a medication to help me. I was at least relieved to have that. Before bed on night 2, Dr Hosein came to do rounds and he spoke to me in a way that was bullying, threatening and it made me break down and cry all night. His threats were in relation to the nature of my illness, and his want to report me to the state and take my license away. He seemed to find pleasure in making me upset. The next morning when I spoke to my specialist, he assured me that Dr Hosein was out of line, and his threats were not valid. He also told me that I could go home later in the day as the medication was started and things were now under control. I was excited to go home as I was not only without food and drink for the majority of my visit, but I also was tired of being bullied by Dr Hosein. I waited a few hours and asked when I would be discharged. It was then that my nurse looked at my file and informed me that I had an IV that was supposed to have started day 1, but they must have forgot, so no point to do it now. I was shocked! Not only did I not get food or water, but I also did not get a prescribed IV?! This shook my confidence and I demanded to be discharged. Nobody could find Dr Hosein, who is supposed to be the doctor to discharge me, and apparently my specialist was not supposed to suggest I can go home as he is not authorized to decide that. Hmmmm, a man that went to school many years longer than Dr Hosein, and is the one actually treating me cannot decide that? Seems suspect. I removed my heart monitor and got dressed. The process of removing my heart monitor should actually raise concern to nurses as it would appear I flat lined, or something bad happened. I waited 30 minutes and nobody came. Is anyone paying attention? Or perhaps they take the stoke unit patients less seriously as they feel those with a brain condition are less aware? Either way, I again realize this hospital has zero care for their patients on the stroke unit floors. I hate to think this, but do they just not provide the same level of care to the folks with brain issues? Regardless, I checked out without waiting for Dr Hosein as nobody could find him, and he was not responding to anyone’s phone calls or t

I have only been there once but had a great first impression...Short wait, staff very friendly, NP Jennifer was great. Dr. nice and spent time with me. Just there for routine check....will go back.

Worst doctor I have encountered in 71 years. Staff very rude. I do not think he makes medically sound decisions. How does he stay in business.

There is not enough room in this space to describe how awful of a doctor he is. Has no clue why a patient is even in the hospital he does all the talking and leaves. won't tell you why you are still in the hospital when you are healthy. Sad that his Colleagues will tell you the same thing. Run far away from this doctor at all cost.

Great and more accurate service and analysis.

My grandfather has been in hospice for over a week and my either family has not even seen or heard from this man. He has never come to the hospital, explained what is going on or anything. Hospice is supposed to be comfortable for the patient and family. Dealing with the death of a loved one is hard enough, it would be nice to have a doctor you can depend on. Do not give this man your money, there are doctors who have been here every day, talking to the family’s of their patients. This man is a sham of a doctor and should not be allowed to practice.

Amazing Doctor!It was one of the best encounters I have ever had with a Primary Care Physician. He seemed very caring, compassionate, knowlegable and concerned about my well- being. He spent quite a great deal of time with me. I am sad however to read some of the petty and negative comments written about this fine Physician. I have worked in the medical field previously. I can only tell he that Dr. Hosein is exemplary in his Medical Practice. Based on some of the comments I have read, I can strongly suggest that many of these criticisms against this kind Doctor are unfounded. Traditionally, few patients ever go out of their way to submit a kind word or praise for people who help them. Many of these critics are likely drug abusers whom the Doctor may have counseled and did not like what he may have told them. Many of these patients also are "too cheap" to go into the office for a follow up for lab results and want to be taken care of by phone. He's a great Doctor in my opinion!

I was extremely impressed with . Dr.Hosein who I met for the first time a week ago. He is very compassionate, Humble, addresses all concerns as well as is very resourceful in finding solutions to problems. He has extensive experience in Internal Medicine, drug rehab, hyperbaric medicine as well as palliative care. He worked previously with Dr. Cheatham in taking care of his patients in the hospital as well as works as a consultant with Dr. Cheatham over the past several years which I found out. It is very sad to see some of the low ratings that have been attributed to this doctor. Clearly, the issues highlighted have nothing to do with actual care that the doctor delivers. However, Dr. Cheatham's old practice was not exactly perfect. Some of his staff members were extremely rude to patient's and even cursed at that them. But nobody would blame the doctor for that. The staff does not always represent the Doctor is my point. I can status since I was a patient of his… for 12 years. I would also state that Dr. Hosein is a very astute physician and knows when some patient has a trying to pull a “fast one” on him. Somewhat the patient has a drug-seeking and manipulative, which is what I suspect the reason is for Dr. Hosein being rated as 1 star. If he read review was in general, people mainly right negative comments when they have a hand up with the other individual. Many people do not write good things about good experiences in general. I will defer caution the reader. I urge you all to give Dr. Hosein a chance I know you will be very happy with him as your doctor whether it be in the office or in the hospital. He is the real deal and what every Doctor should aspire to be!

This Dr. has no sense of urgency and does not respond to follow up after repeated calls. I went in for a minor injury and he recommended an XRAY The XRAY was faxed to his office and he refused to supply the results. I called a number of times each day and was on hold for over an hour. The staff claimed the gave him numerous messages but he has still not replied. What a mistake it was for Dr Cheatham to turn over the practice to this individual.

dr Hosien may well be a good doctor, I will never know since on the first try at getting an appointment the receptionist was texting the doctor to see if it was OK to make an appointment. They also failed miserably to do what they said they would do three times in making phone calls to insurance companies to gain approval under my previous doctor. Appalling front office team.
