Francis Fynn-Thompson, MD

Dr. Francis Fynn-Thompson is a congenital heart surgeon at Boston Children’s Hospital who cares for infants, children, and young adults with complex heart and lung conditions. He has particular expertise in heart failure, heart and lung transplantation, and mechanical heart support for children with advanced heart disease.
Dr. Fynn-Thompson earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed his surgical training at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has been a member of the cardiac surgery team at Boston Children’s Hospital for many years and currently serves as Clinical Director of Cardiac Surgery. He is also an associate professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Fynn-Thompson leads and supports programs focused on heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and airway disorders. His research and innovation efforts are aimed at improving outcomes and quality of life for children with the most complex …heart conditions.
