Dr. Francis Anieakan Essien, MD

Went in for a consultation regarding having several lipomas removed. He had terrible bedside manner. Did not make me feel comfortable at all and treated me like I was just another patient. Did not act like he cared about my concerns or worries. He made me feel incompetent when I asked one question, which was in regards to scarring. He didn’t care about how I felt, didn’t actually ask me any questions during the consultation, and seemed rushed. I have decided there is no way I will be allowing this man to make any incisions on my body and after reading the reviews, I see I was not the only one. I will be finding another surgeon who treats patients with more respect and makes them feel valued as individuals.

He was running late, one hour past my appointment time I was finally taken back into a room. Which I understand can happen, however, after waiting for that long it would be nice if he had a better bedside manner. This was my initial consult so I was trying to tell him how my injury had occurred and what I had done up until this point to try and fix the problem. He interjected the entire time and I could barely get a few words out before he would say things like that's not how this happens, many people have this problem and don't have pain. At the end of the visit he said he can do the procedure but doesn't want to, told me to try a different specialty but wouldn't give me a referral to anyone so now I have to go back to my PCM and start the whole process over again.

I can not say enough positive things about Dr. Essien, I was very nervous having surgery on a giant Paraesophageal Hiatal Hernia, Dr Essien was very warm and caring, he answered all my questions and helped ease my anxiety, after surgery he was very patient with me through the healing process, I would with high confidence recommend Dr. Essien!

I was anxious about my abdominal surgery. Dr Essien put my mind at ease. He is very personable, and professional.

I am very glad that I am putting my health in the hands of a knowledgeable medical man may God continue using him a whole lot.

I am glad that my primary physician recommend me this surgeon Dr. Essien'. in my experienced he is one of a kind' very knowlegeable, caring, and exceptional. This doctor will go beyond on his patient expectation to fix your problem.
