Dr. Gary Michael Flangas, MD

Due to a career choice of which we loved, my husband and I both have suffered back injuries. We have both had surgery by Dr Flangas and have never regretted it. He is straight forward. Explains pros and cons and what to expect in the future.

I choose both God and Gary Flangas. I was a patient of Dr.Flangas over 1 year for back injuries. L4,5 Microlumbar Diskectomy surgery was performed. It was a total success due to Gary Flangas professional skills knowledge,patience! Flangas is the greatest doctor I have had in my lifetime and his staff is kind and considerate and will do anything and everything for the patients! I saw Dr Flangas about 4 years ago and he recommended fusion. I decided to get a second opinion and recently tried to make an appointment to see him again. His office staff and particularly his assistant Natalie have been rude, unhelpful, uncooperative and have taken over a week to get back to me, even after I have called the office multiple times. Eventually, she called me and told me that I couldn’t see the doctor as I had sought a second opinion elsewhere and had other procedures with other doctors. She told me ....quite rudely...to go back to my other doctor as there was nothing she could do. Stinks of sour grapes!!! Bottom line....Natalie needs to attend a comprehensive customer service course and understand that most people trying to make an appointment are in constant and severe pain. The last thing they need is to encounter a rude, unfeeling employee who couldn’t give a crap just because they went somewhere else for a second opinion.

Upon seeing Dr. Flangas for the first time for stenosis of the neck, he told me I needed immediate surgery, and the problem might not be cured with the surgery. The delicate surgery involved moving my carotid artery from one side of my neck to the other. The prognosis along with a cold demeanor by the doctor made me leave the office more depressed than anything I have every experienced. This prompted me to go for two other opinions. Both telling me that NO surgery was necessary, but to come back in about a year. My pain did disappear in about a month. Make sure that if you see this doctor and surgery is recommended, you get another opinion.

This is a long overdue review. In Feb 2018 I was diagnosed with Cushings Disease which means I had a tumor on my pituitary gland. After finding this out I went on the search for a neurosurgeon. Based on others reviews I found Dr. Flangas. I did not have to wait long to get an appointment to see him, maybe a few weeks which isn’t terrible at all. First, the staff is absolutely amazing! They are the nicest group of people I’ve encountered working for a Dr. When I met Dr Flangas he was so incredibly nice, had this wonderful calming nature that made me feel less stressed with what I was dealing with. He extremely thorough explaining what exactly the disease was, how the surgery would go to remove the 6mm x 6mm tumor on my pituitary gland, risks involved etc. I felt so comfortable and confident in Dr Flangas he ended up being the only Neurosurgeon I met with for the surgery and knew I’d be in great hands with him. May 2018 I had the surgery to remove the tumor. He worked with Dr Schroeder… ENT and Dr Flangas removed the tumor. It was a completely successful surgery. Dr Flangas and his staff are so incredible I wish I could see him for all my Drs appointments. I’m so glad I didn’t listen to others saying I had to leave town for such an important surgery. Dr Flangas gave me my life back and if I had to have any type of surgery again I wouldn’t see anyone other than him. Erica F.

Dr. Flangas and his staff are very professional and caring. I had neck surgery one year ago 2016. After other two surgeon's opinion. I decided chose Dr. Flangas. The surgery successful and my neck healing very well. He is kind and friendly. He takes his time and listens. I highly recommended him. Thank you Dr Flangas. May God bless you and your staff.

Dr flangas is wonderful I only wish I hadn't been so stubborn and done surgery sooner. I was reading everything about what a microdiskony entailed and postponed it for almost three months. I had a severe L4 L5 S1 herniation with drop foot, after the initial "blow out" of my disk I didn't have a lot of pain just foot drop and no dorsal flex finally after losing control of my leg and foot I had surgery.OMG It went so smooth, very little pain, I am one month into rehab due to not having surgery sooner we don't know if it will solve my foot drop I am hopeful but it won't be Dr. Flangas fault I should have heeded his warning and stopped reading the internet and listening to friends warning me of the terrible consequences of back surgery.The office staff Teresa and Nicole were so helpful. Hope this blog helps anyone debating this same situation I only wish I would have done it sooner.

I was in an accident that resulted in several surgeries. When I had my neck operated, the last question I had to the surgeon was, how long would it be until the pain was gone. He answered that as soon as I woke up, it would be gone. After the surgery, while in my semi-comatose state, I didn't feel anything different and had to go back several times for different tests and MRI's, and came to the conclusion that I had to live with the pain. After a few years, I could no longer take it anymore and asked around for a different doctor. Dr. Flangas explained that he could correct the existing problem and relieve my pain. When I woke up in the hospital, after immediately stretching my fingers, toes, limbs, I realized that the pain was indeed gone. Thank You very much.
