Dr. Gay Mcmanus Walker, MD

Dr. Walker has a wealth of knowledge and is a no-nonsense physician who is all about medicine and is not dictated to by the insurance company or churning through patients during the day. Conversely to several old postings, I find the front desk exceptionally good and far superior to many doctors offices. I can count on prescriptions being called in immediately without having to follow up. What can be improved upon are call backs on test results especially when they are concerning potential problems, thus the 4 stars and not 5.

"I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. " From the Hippocratic Oath. Dr. Walker violated both my privacy and my trust. I came to her for help and after she left the room I heard her talking to her nurse or assistant. Then I heard her mock me. She made fun of what I had told her (in a mocking, falsetto voice). I was shocked, hurt and in disbelief. While she was in the room with me, she wasn't really listening. She was searching the web. She asked me brusquely, "What next," when I had a concern about a fall I had had four months before. I rarely visit the doctor and I wait until I realize things are not going to heal on their own. But any concern I had was brushed off. This was a much different Dr. Walker than I had seen once before in the past.

Dr. Walker is very unique in that she truly cares. She takes the time with you to listen to you. She is genuinely interested in your health and well being and works with you to accomplish your health goals. She is compassionate, yet not over-indulgent.....I have been seeing Doctors for over 40 years and by far, Dr. Walker is a professional medical doctor for whom I could not ask for a better Physician.

NOT a gatekeeper for the insurance company. You share your health goals and she is prepared to help you get there. Prompt follow up with referrals, PT, etc. She has lived long enough to experience what life throws in front of you and is knowledgeable and caring (great empathy). Isn't a "salesperson" and takes time ( and WANTS) to hear your concerns, before jumping to a preconceived diagnosis and the prescription pad. Front office staff and PA were all very pleasant and helpful. Couldn't ask more of a Doctor .

I have to agree with another comment I saw on here. Dr. Walker is very good and thorough but the front desk staff for the most part is really unprofessional. Not sure if they're treated poorly by management and are therefor miserable or if they're just clueless. The PA's are great.

Although reserved, Dr.Walker is very meticulous and thorough. The office is awful. Receptionists cannot take or relay accurate messages. They appear untrained in capturing even the most basic terminology. It is often necessary to call several times to get a response from a PA. This is not what you need when feeling sick, and could end up being dangerous if in a situation of needing urgent feedback. Unless you have endless time and patience and a non-urgent medical situation to deal with, this is not the practice for you.

Dr. Walker spent a great deal of time getting to know me as a new patient. Great bedside manner and appeared sincere and caring. I trust that I will be in good hands.
