Dr. George Marcus Galvan, MD

My sisters and I are so grateful for Dr. Galvan and his team - our mother had been experiencing debilitating symptoms (having difficulty walking and maintaining a firm grip) - she was referred to Dr. Galvan, he reviewed her scans with us thoroughly and expressed genuine concern. He immediately scheduled her surgery and within a few days we were in a waiting room anxiously waiting for her spinal neck and lumbar surgery to be over. We were terrified but Dr. Galvan’s expertise, confidence and his overall genuine concern for our mother eased our worries. Within an hour of our mom’s 5 1/2 hour surgery - we immediately saw an improvement in her motor skills. Dr. Galvan gave us our mom back - she’s slowly but confidently on the road to recovery. He has a way of explaining the whole procedure from start to finish. Pointed out the issues shown on my MRI, along with; where and what he was going to do. Great follow ups. End result pain is GONE! Dr Galvan was so sweet and knew right away that I needed back surgery rather than an electrical stimulus. I recommend him highly.

I cannot thank Dr. George Galvan and his experienced team enough for giving me back my life. I am 2 months post op and doing great! I am a 30 y/o female who is over weight and has a desk job. Over time I suffered back pain, but not until Jan. 2018 I started to get a radiating pain down my left leg. I had started working out so I thought my leg was sore. That continued for months until May 2018 my back started to hurt and I had trouble doing daily things like getting out of bed, walking, and even showering was difficult. In May, my disc was 1/2 an inch so my MD recommended I do home stretches and physical therapy for a couple of weeks. I had no change. I was miserable and depressed. I was at the point to where I was not sleeping at night because I could not get comfortable; my sciatic pain radiated from my butt to my toes, I could not stand straight. I drove 4 hours to see Dr. Galvan for my first consultation and he scheduled my surgery within 2 weeks. Surgery was quick (1.5 hrs)… and minimally invasive. My disc herniation ended up being 2 inches at time of surgery (Oct 2018). I had very little pain after surgery. The hardest thing was remembering not to lift things or bend your back. When I've asked the doctor or PA a question using the patient portal or by going through a MA on staff, I've never gotten any response at all.

My life has changed. I went from being curled up in bed in pain to walking distances with a walker for safety. He left no stone unturned. He and his staff believed in me.

Dr Galvan is fantastic. He takes as long as you need him to to answer questions, thoroughly explains your condition and treatment options and focuses on conservative care prior to more invasive approaches.

I had surgery by Dr. Galvan 10 days ago. It was performed at Methodist Stone Age. Everything was handled with excellence. They listened to me so I did not have any ill effects from the surgery. All the staff were great, caring and friendly. And the food wasn't bad either! I wish his office staff was as efficient as the hospital staff. It is difficult to get someone to answer the phone or to return your calls. Nor did they ever return my notes through their system. Had it not been for my own doctor, I don't know how I would have gotten in.
