Dr. George Leor Shashoua, MD

Dr. Shashoua genitally mutilated me. The first Dr. to diagnose me as genitally mutilated from Dr Shashoua is a genital plastic surgeon from Harvard and the second, a world renowned genital plastic surgeon from California. Dr Shashoua sent me to the later Dr to reconstruct the mess he made of me and said he would pay for the surgery. Then he refused to pay for it “because it was too expensive” and left me with the $40,000 bill but offered to refund me the $3900 surgery he did. Two Austin attorneys were unable to take my case against Dr Shashoua because they were already in law suits against Dr Shausha for the same thing. Additionally, the Dr that did my 6 hour reconstruction surgery had reconstructed other patients that Dr Shausha had genitally mutilated.

I'm an RN, 73 yo, and have known Shashoua for 25 years. After having recurrent UTI's every few months for 3 years, chronic atrophic vaginitis, and having given up on ever having sex again, I went to Shashoua. He operated and placed a vaginal wall fascial graft, repaired a cystocele, and prescribed an estrogen ring. I have never felt better. No UTI's for 7 months and sex is fun again. This guy's the best for pelvic reconstructive surgery!

Could not have asked for better in every respect of the surgery. What ever the doc is paying the staff, he needs to pay them more! What a great team of ladies!

I read Dr. Shashoua's reviews prior to seeing him. Based on the glowing remarks by some, I went ahead and kept the appointment. Bad move. I first saw my GI doc, then she referred me to him, stating "you need a hysterectomy", having done several tests already. He was fairly abrupt, completely disagreed with the referring doc and went to some length to describe the procedure he thought I should have. The procedure he described included having 2 surgeons involved to re-build the pelvic floor and address a vaginal prolapse. It was a major surgery, including 2 incisions and sounded like it would take months to heal. I went ahead and saw the rectal-colon doctor who would do that part of the surgery. He totally disagreed with Dr S, advising me that physical therapy would correct the problem within 3 months, with an 80% success rate. I kept my follow up appt with Dr S. Dr S apparently couldn't be further bothered with me. I saw an RN. I advised her what the colon doc had said,… and stated that I wanted to go ahead and surgically address the prolapse. In a complete about-face, she stated "we" shouldn't do surgery. She continued to explain what was needed, totally different than what I heard a couple weeks ago. She gave me what felt like an unnecessary pelvic exam. Never saw the doctor. Essentially paid $50 for a nurse to do a pelvic, and to hear her refute what the actual surgeon said. So I had two conflicting opinions. I went back to my primary care doc who actually knows me and I will take her good advice. This guy is a loser who is knife-happy.

I was diagnosed with Cystocele and required to have the Da Vinci Sacrocolpoperineopexy/Da Vinci Sacrocolpopexy. The staff was excellent at alleviating my fears and took very good care of me. I received call backs on any concerns that I experienced. I would refer them to all my friends.

My wife will not be returning to see Dr. Shashoua. She went in to discuss possible symptoms of prolapse. Dr. Shashoua, though knowledgeable about the issue, became irritated and dismissive when my wife wished to ask questions about her condition that he did not deem necessary. We were taken aback, having never see such an attitude from a medical professional. At one point, the doctor shushed my wife, cutting her off and gesturing for her to stop in her attempts to speak. Her concerns were pertinent to the issue. He simply seemed in a hurry to wrap things up. His manner was rude and unacceptable.

Everything about this doctor and his staff was first class. The receptionist always recognized me and no matter who was taking my appointment in the office they were considerate, knowledgeable and gentle. If you are considering any urogynecological surgery in the future I believe there is no better found elsewhere.

I highly recommend Austin Urogynecology. My conditions included Cystocele, Rectocele, Uterine Prolapse and Urinary incontinence. My treatments included Da Vinci Sacrocolpoperineopexy, Hysterectomy and Mid-Urethral Sling. My conditions and treatments were thoroughly discussed with me before the surgery. I was given plenty of time to ask questions and discuss any concerns. The staff was friendly and I was VERY impressed with the promptness of being seen at my appointments. Only once out of five appointments did I have to wait for more than 10 minutes and even then I was kept informed about the delay and made comfortable while waiting. I was given clear pre-op instructions and also given detailed information about what to expect after surgery. I'm over 60 years old and I must say I was concerned about the pain from surgery and feared that my recovery may be slow due to my age and not very good overall physical condition. However my pain was managed very well and my recovery has… been exactly as explained to me before the surgery. I am now 7 weeks post-op and it is wonderful to be free from the incontinence and other symptoms of prolapse. A special thank you to Dr. Shashoua, Sarah and Marissa as I saw them most often but the entire staff was great

My experience with Dr. Shashoua and staff went very well. During my pre-op appointment the types of surgical options were explained in detail which assisted me in making a well informed decision. My post-op appts were very engaging, whereas, staff thoroughly answered all of my questions and provided info to me, which led to a good recovery. NANCI
