Dr. Ghulam Hossein Kashef, MD

I've seen Dr. Kashef twice having been referred to him for anemia. First visit, I'm finally called back to the room 30 min late and he arrives in room 15 min later. He spent 5 - 10 min with me. 2nd visit - I arrive at 830 am for an 845 appointment, and am told the Dr doesn't arrive til 9am and there are two of us booked at 845 and I'm #2. I rescheduled the appointment. 2nd visit Redo - 1pm appt and as I check in I see another person signed in just before me with same appt time. I'm finally called back at 133, and the Dr comes in the room at 159. Five minutes later I'm out. Here's the gist of the conversations and lack of professionalism. Visit one - DR - When was your last colonscopy? Me - 18 months ago. No issues. DR - Your dr didn't order another? How about GI tests? Me - She sent me to you to diagnose issues Dr - You need an infusion. When can you get this? Next week. Fine. See you in a month. (as he's standing up to leave the room) Me - Can you tell me a little bit about the… procedure, how long it will take, what restrictions will I have, how long before my iron levels are improved? DR - Oh, you don't know this? (he sits back down) It will take 4 hours. No restrictions. Your iron levels will be back up in 10 days or so. (and this time he leaves the room) Visit #2 Redo - Dr walks in 1 hour late, chomping on chewing gum, behind his mask. Logs into my chart on computer. Dr - did you have the infusion? Me - yes (I wanted to say - you have my chart in front of you. When was your last colonoscopy? (again - my chart is in front of you) Well, you're not anemic any more. Me - What do my labs say? DR -.....(rattles off a lot of numbers without context.) You will need blood work again in 12 weeks. And an appointment but you can see the Nurse Practitioner. Oh...and Google foods high in iron to eat, ok? Needless to say, I will not go back to see him.

Dr Kashef is a FANTASTIC doctor and an even better human being!! I read a review that was highly critical of Dr Kashef’s beside manner and that could not further from my experience and that of his other patients with whom I have spoken with in the waiting room. When dark clouds loom in your life, Dr Kashef’s kindness is an absolute blessing.

1st. He was late to my fathers appointment i asked a nurse when would the doctor be in to see us? His response "i just called him AGAIN to let him know your here" 2nd. Doc finally comes in and is noticeably irritated. This was my dads 1st visit after being diagnosed with cancer. My family and i arent very knowledgeable of the steps, what to look forward to, or a treatment plan so naturally we are asking questions. This doctor has no bedside manner. He was so rude so short he wanted us to be out of there he was done with the appointment before it even started. 3rd. After finding a new cancer doc for my father we requested medical records and noticed Dr. Kashef NEVER EVEN NOTED HIS FILE OF THIS VISIT OR TREATMENT PLAN WE SPOKE ABOUT. you would never even know this appointment happened unless you were there. Please take yourself or your loved ones ANYWHERE else.

Upon contacting Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, I spoke with Dr. Kashef, the on-call doctor, at the time, regarding how to treat the side-effects of my mother, a stage 4 metastatic colon cancer patient. During my communications with Dr. Kashef, he displayed behavior that was rude, impatient, impolite, and lacking the basic compassion and decency which every patient and caregiver deserves. If this is how he displays his behavior as an on-call doctor, he should not be treating nor engaging with patients and their families in person. It is under the strongest terms that I do not recommend Dr. Kashef.

This not only a praise for Dr. Kashef who has been treating my wife since March for Lung Cancer and having here admitted to a clinical trial, but mainly for his assistant nurse Alissa Dent who since has been transferred to another clinic where the most of her patients are situated. This is a remarkable young lady who has been our rock during these times and her caring for my wife and myself have been remarkable, I assure you she will be missed by us as well as others. Those people who are under her care also know what a loving, caring young person she is and she will be missed. If rewards were to be given for outstanding performance and caring for patients, she moves to the very top of the list in our minds. We are thankful that she became a part of our lives. Joanne C.
