Dr. Henry Harris Barnard II, MD

Dr Barnard operated on me in 2007. I had a bulging disc in my neck but in all actuality the problem was coming from my scoliosis that I’ve been undetected. To make a long story short he did a disc fusion taking bone from my hip and putting it into my neck. The bone was too big and he was supposed to use a plate with screws and didn’t he only put the bone in to let it fuse. He told me I was to take my brace off after seven days and resume normal activities after 2 weeks. Come to find out I was supposed to wear that brace for eight weeks and then after several times going to him and other doctors because I was getting sicker and sicker, my throat and chest was hurting so bad, my neck was swelling, I couldn’t hardly swallow. It was continually getting worse and basically he told me it was all in my head. A walk in clinic found the mass I had that turned out to be staff and found out Dr Barnard punctured my esophagus during surgery. This went 11 months untreated and I was very sick and… almost died. They had to place a feeding tube in my stomach for right at a year and I was in the hospital for almost 4 months. So think twice before you let him touch you.

I had spinal fusion and was told I would be up and walking that same day. I was not. I was sent home from their surgical center unable to walk. The drain tube in my back came OUT on the ride home and I bled all over the car. The doc called me that evening and asked if I was up and walking around and I explained I was unable. FOR 10 ENTIRE DAYS I suffered and cried, unable to sit, stand, walk, sleep, and had horrible pains shooting down my legs. I called daily, multiple times, in so much pain I wanted to die. I went into the office at least 2 times inside this 10 day period, on one visit I was unable to do anything but cry uncontrollably due to the pain. I am not a cry baby, and I have a high pain tolerance! Finally, day 10, they admitted me to the hospital for emergency surgery. I was hemorrhaging that entire time. I had been prescribed meds to try to ease the pain, but none worked, and every time I called the office I was told to take ibuprofen. Maybe if my pain had been taken more… seriously, it would not have been 10 days of suffering and horrible pain. Now, after a recent xray due to the same pain I had before surgery, I am told that my spine has been fused out of alignment. One vertabrae is literally 1.5 centimeters forward - and causing the same pain I had before.

Dr. Barnard is the best I had surgery Jan 17 2018. I felt like a million bucks the next day. He even called me that night to check on me. Outpatient surgery too thanks Dr Banard

Horrible experience. Very dry. DOES NOT CARE FOR HIS PATIENTS! He will belittle you and your condition! Find another facility to utilize!!! You've been warned!

Very dry bedside manner. A little to cocktail for me. Would not listen when I complained of excessive pain.

This doctor is not looking out for his patients best medical interest. He wanted to do a dangerous invasive procedure before he knew what the problem was. I feel this doctor and facility he works out of is just there to get the most money out of each patient.

This doctor had no intentions of helping me because I did not have insurance. He belittled me and made a joke to his nurse that I was "one of those crazy patients" because I used essential oils for pain management vs the drugs that he was quickly to push. All I wanted was a referral for a MRI and he said he would Not refer me Bc he only referred "his patients whom he is operating on" and then reminded me "it was expensive". I told him that I feared I had a mass in my back that his x-ray would not show and his responce to me was if it were a mass then I would already be dead!! The poorest communication skills. Always was on the defense and not willing to help me by only referring me for a MRI. Total wast of $170 cash for his 20 minutes of humiliation. ):

Dr. Barnard was more interested in stating (arguing) his opinion on disability than giving me my test results for which I was there. He belittled MSA's pain management physician. Dr.'s Hajek, Ganzel and staff are by far, above having this physician ruin their reputation, hard work and dedication they have to their patients. I doubt Dr. Barnard would not stay in practice if he was out on his own and not under the "umbrella" of the staff of MSA.

Dr. Barnard performed surgery on my 8 year old son for a broken femur. He eased my mind and gave his recommendation on how to go about repairing the break. He left options on the table if I wanted to go about it another way. He was very informative on how to obtain a full recovery for my son. He made me feel comfortable each and everytime we visited. I could not be more pleased with the outcome. 2 years has passed since the surgery and its as if his leg was never broken. I loved having choices on the table and feeling so involved in my sons care. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Barnard! I've never felt so empowered in a state of complete helplessness! Thanks Doc!

Dr. Barnard has the patient's care as his first priority. Excellent surgeon. Best "Back Doctor" in Dothan.
