Dr. Irada Shapiro, DO

Nov 2019 I went to see this doctor because I had a Bartholins cyst. She saw me after 40 min waiting in the room. She said im ok. Then after 2 months I saw Dr. Ravins Claudia she said I need to removed that cyst. Dr saphiro doesn't deserve to be a gyn. So sad

Dr Shapiro absolutely unprofessional, not explaining anything, don’t talk , don’t answered , very aggressive and I think she wants to finished with patients in a 30 sec from beginning, very weird doctor!!! Not recommended

So this was years ago. But still goes down as the most humiliating experiences of my life... I came in for a pap. I had another minor issue as well to discuss. She then went into the hallway and loudly (I could hear clearly through the door and around the corner) her loudly telling the assistant what was up with me. Didn’t call me patient, called me by my name. The assistant made a ignorant comment about it and Dr. Shapiro followed up with her own negative personal opinion before returning to the room. Blabbing in the hallway right next to the room. I should have complained about her clearly breaking HIPPA and making personal comments so loudly but I never wanted to show my face again. I got dressed and left in utter disgust. Do NOT go to this one.

First off, I just want to say her assistant is very sweet and spends a lot more time with you than she does. I was just seen by Dr. Irada Shapiro today and I felt very uncomfortable. I paid visit to the GYN because I have an itch and she came into the room and immediately wanted to rush me out. I spoke to her assistant previously and told her I'm not sexually active and she said "I assume you're uncomfortable with us checking you" like in other words, you're uncomfortable taking your pants off and having us check you. So I said yeah I don't want to do that, and she said that was fine. Dr. Shapiro came into the room, barely introduced herself, and said "Okay so you have an itch? And you don't feel comfortable with us taking a look right?" So I said no I'm not comfortable. She said in a very annoyed tone "Well, I cannot diagnose you if I can't take a look. You can't diagnose something if you're not able to look at it." So I said "Okay, I guess I'll do it." I asked "do I just put this… napkin over me?" And when I looked up she was already halfway out the room and the assistant answered for her. She came back in and took a look, said nothing looked unusual, and didn't prescribe or recommend anything for my itch. She told me that's all, and rushed out the room. She barely communicated with me, was completely INSENSITIVE, and didn't even try making me feel comfortable about taking off my pants and underwear.

Doesn’t spend time with you. Assistant is with you more then she is. Doesn’t answer questions doesn’t explain test results. Horrible long wait

Dr. Shapiro shouldn't be practicing Medicine Period!! her ways with patients is very rude. First time I went there (non insurance) paid out of pocket, was on time for my appointment and then waited 2 hours to see her. She did my check up and just walked out the room and sent her assistant in to do the rest. I got a bill for lab work for 800.00 without knowing what the***she got blood work for. I changed Doctors to see if he can explain in the same center.. Lets see what happens with this one.. Overall no type of communication skills!!!

Rude and always in a rush!

I've been seeing Dr. Shapiro about 2yrs now. Last yr I had to wait at over 2 hrs for her just to get to the office. After that I decide not to come back.But I decided to give her another chance. I book my appt. a month and a half early and the staff calls me up to reschedule the appt. Dr. Shapiro is on call for the week. They give me for the following week. Again what happen last year happens again. After waiting there for 1 hr and a half the receptionist makes the annoucement that the doctor wont be in till much later for all the patients that are there to reschedule. I think she is great but not worth the waiting around for. I just don't understand how they could only have one doctor in the office.The lady that was there was somewhat helpful. They never pick up the phone, you have to wait months for an appt. and this is what happens.

I have been seeing this doctor for about three years. In the beginning she seemed pleasant and mild mannered. After some time as her patient, I find that she lacks patience and does not have good listening skills. During the last visit, she was very rude and unprofessional stating that " we would have problems" because I made a personal decision about the diagnostic tests she was recommended. She did not care or ask about my specific needs or situation. She treated me like a number instead of a person. The only good thing I can say is that the office in Forest Hills is very nicely decorated, comfortable and spa like.

Dr. Shapiro is VERY gentile. She is very easy to talk to and makes you feel very comfortable. I have never felt so at ease in a gynecology exam. She really is the best!
