I think Dr Hernandez is a good doctor, but his office tried to charge me for a numerous extra fees for a cortisone injection. They knew I was a cash paying patient because this procedure was not qualified through my insurance. I had already paid $400 for an office visit where I brought Dr H an MRI bir he said I had to come back for a second visit for the shot ( had one before and it took all of two minutes). They also want to charge me for an ultrasound (?) and for a drainage procedure- I had no swelling and there was no fluid detected on my MRI and the doctor never said I needed any fluid drained. when I told the office lady this, she said I had to pay it up front and then I could discuss it with the doctor at my appointment. I canceled the appointment.

Avoid Jaime Hernandez for Knee Replacement Surgery I had a full knee replacement with Dr. Jaime Hernandez in 2018. As a former international-level athlete in great shape and ready for recovery, I was optimistic. However, the experience quickly turned into a nightmare. Immediately post-op, my knee dressing was soaked with blood. Instead of returning me to surgery—as five other surgeons later agreed he should have—Dr. Hernandez aspirated the wound and sent me home. He was leaving for vacation and told me to “keep an eye on it.” Over the next two weeks, my knee swelled alarmingly, the sutures pulled apart, and the pain became extreme. Another surgeon at SCOI had to urgently re-operate. This second surgery, while necessary, significantly increased my risk of infection. Thankfully, I avoided one—but the damage was done. In the years since, I’ve lived with ongoing pain, “crunchiness,” and limited performance in the replaced knee. Multiple surgeons have pointed to potential issues like… scar tissue or a misplaced component behind the patella as likely causes—both avoidable complications. I recently returned to Dr. Hernandez—not seeking blame or compensation, just acknowledgment. Instead, I was met with arrogance, deflection, and zero empathy. He casually recommended a cleanup surgery, promising nothing, and told me to book it at the front desk. I left stunned. If you’re considering him, I urge you to be careful. If you're still confident in him after that conversation, he may be right for you. But proceed with caution—his surgical decisions and dismissive attitude had a lasting impact on my quality of life.

He did for me on May 14th 2019 with a new hip and I was walking the same day. with one week of Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy in 5 star Lake Balboa Rehab, I feel normal and walks 2-3 miles every morning. As a matter of Fact this new hip was the best birthday gift in May. Bijan

First appointment he was 1:45 h late and no excuse Requested MRI but made a mistake with the request Have to come back and wait again to obtain a new request Wait one month to get an appointment after MRI Second visit was 1:15 late again, no excuse Left with exasperation In my world is named time management Below expectation and no respect for customers Forget this place

It took me a long time to come to terms with the fact that I needed a full knee replacement in both knees. This surgery really scared me but I also knew that I did not want to live my life in constant pain. Dr. Hernandez was recommended to me and during my first visit with Dr. Hernandez I immediately knew that he was the doctor that I wanted to do my surgeries. His staff was amazing and so professional. If I had a question or needed anything from the office they always took care of it and in a very timely manner. They were the absolute best! Dr. Hernandez is a very skilled doctor and I would say one of the best doctors in Southern California. My surgeries went so well and my recovery has been so good. I continue to see great improvement as every month passes. I would highly recommend Dr. Hernandez and I am so thankful that he did my surgeries. He really changed my life and now I can go back to doing all the things I enjoyed that I could not do before my surgeries. Thank you… Dr. Hernandez for doing my surgeries and for being the best! I have my good life back again!
