Jameel Farrukh Durrani, MD

Jameel Durrani, MD, is a pulmonologist who specializes in critical care medicine. He treats adults for a variety of breath and lung conditions including cough, wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, abnormal chest imaging, asthma, emphysema and COPD.The inventor and developer of Durrani chest tube catheters, Dr. Durrani is also an accomplished researcher and presenter.“I take great pride in helping my patients breathe better and thereby live better. Nothing else matters if you cannot breathe,” he says.Dr. Durrani earned his medical degree from Nishtar Medical University in Multan, Pakistan. After medical school, he completed his residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Darby, Pa. He followed that with a fellowship in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.When he was just 4 years old, his father told him and his 3 brothers they would become doctors. “We are 4 doctors now, thanks to our parents’ tireless …efforts and divine help,” Dr. Durrani says. “I will always be grateful to my parents for choosing a great profession for us to pursue and fall in love with.” Originally from Pakistan, he relocated to the U.S. after medical school. “Pennsylvania always felt like home to us as a family and we feel truly blessed to make this beautiful state our home,” says Dr. Durrani.In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, gardening, cricket and reading a good book.
