Dr. James Patrick Clancy III, MD

Performed surgical procedure on me twice while I was in the hospital.

I recently consulted with Dr. Clancy for an upcoming surgery. He was very thorough and answered my many questions.

Dr. Clancy of Surgical Specialists performed surgery to remove my gall bladder. I also had to have a hysterectomy within an hour of the other surgery. The hysterectomy was done by another doctor. During the surgery to remove gall bladder, Dr. Clancy clipped an unnecessary artery and didn't realize it. He stapled me up and I was prepped for the other surgery. The next day, I was not feeling right, it wasn't a feeling that I should be having, even though I just had 2 surgeries. My husband said I looked pale white and my whole body was swollen, my abdomen was extremely distended. The doctor was notified and they rushed me back for blood tests and a ct scan. The blood test showed I had lost 4 out of 5 liters of blood, the ct showed where I was bleeding internally and which doctor made the error. I had to have a third surgery, an emergency laporatomy. An incision was made from my breasts to my belly button. He opened me up so he could soak up the blood but in doing so he had to move… around my liver and in intestines. When he moved my intestines, they shut down, meaning I could not go to the bathroom at all. Also, in order to do the surgery, he used a special table to where my head would be angled to the floor so the small amount of blood left would settle in my brain. I was on the verge of having brain development and my lungs collapsing. After that, I had an 8 day stay at one og the worst hospitals in Michigan, Lakeland. That stay there was horrible. I had tubes coming from everywhere. I could mot go home until my intestines started to work again. I also want to mention that after my first 2 surgeries, I was not checked on during the night. They would have noticed something if they had. Nobody came to take blood or check vitals, if they had they would of noticed something was wrong. Dr. Clancy is not a good doctor, he has mo manners and no empathy. Lakeland is not a good hospital to go to if you can avoid going there I would. I was pale white and my face was swollen along with the rest of my body. My stomach was extremely distended. The doctor was informed and rushed right in and immediately they rushed me back to get blood tests and a CT scan done. The blood tests showed I had lost 4 liters of blood, you only have 5 in your body. The CT scan showed where I was bleeding internally from and which doctor had made the error. I was rushed back for a third surgery, 3 surgeries in 24 hours. I was given 2 blood transfusions and had to have an emergency laporatomy. In order to perform the surgery, he used a special table to which my head would be tilted to to floor. That was done so the small amount of bloodI had in my body would go to my brain. I was that close to having brain damage and my lungs were on the verge of collapsing. He made a vertical incision from my breasts to my belly button. He opened me up and had to soak up all the blood that had settled in my stomach. He lifted up my liver to clean the blood out and also had to move around my intestines. When he did that, my intestines shut down.
