Dr. Jason Thomas Huffman, MD

After a couple of years of spinal epidurals that finally did not work, Dr. Huffman and I talked about surgery. After discussing several options, we decided on a Laminectomy. The surgery was great. I was up that evening and walking with a walker. The recovery since I have been home has been terrific. For the first time in years, I have no pain. I wore a brace for six weeks, now only when I am walking or when my back gets tired. I have had both knees replaced and this is the easiest surgery that i have ever had. P.T. starts in two weeks.

Dr. Huffman was referred to us by a doctor at the Coon Joint Institute. His careful diagnosis, and the minimally invasive spine surgery turned out perfectly. My husband is pain-free after 15 months of spinal epidurals and vague/conflicting medical opinions. Recovery has been rapid, due to the minimally invasive approach. Dr. Huffman is highly skilled in this technique. His office staff (ST.Helena) are all efficient, friendly and caring. From our experience we recommend Dr. Huffman, and are grateful to have been referred to him.

Follow up is a joke and is awful. No bedside manner at all. Felt like he did the surgery, got his money and good-bye! Don't bother to phone. Phone calls are not returned.

Dr. Huffman is the best! I had been suffering from several lumbar conditions and finally when it got so bad my legs went out from under me I was referred to Dr. Huffman. I can't say enough good things about him. My surgery was a total success and my aftercare has been stellar. Sometimes I have to wait a bit longer to see him for my appointments but that is to be expected as Napa Valley Orthopedics is a busy place because they're that good. The staff has always been courteous and friendly and I hope anyone in need of a spine evaluation/surgery will find their way to Dr. Huffman. He's the best!

So far all I have done with this office is try to get an appt. you call, get a long recording that asks to many ?'s it wants answers to right after the recording. And they will call you with in 3 days. 3 days later a lady called, she was a fast talker. I'm still not sure what all was said, and I had a hard time remembering how to go and use there patient record site. New to me, I did the best I can. I'm not sure if my records were faxed as I set up or not? And I can't remember the web site for the patient records to check on it. The site is not on there main web site, so I don't want to call again long distance to find out. I guess I will wait until my appt, which is next Tuesday the 2nd of April. All this for a second opinion on a surgery my regular spine Dr wants to do, as requested by my Nuroligist . I hope he's worth the trip, so far I'm finding things a little straining. Then there's the, we're not sure if we can take your insurance coverage? I'm on SSI, so if its not covered… its not happening and I wasted my time and gas and stress for nada. If I come across in a aggressive way, it's just because I'm Dr burned out. I have a few health problems, most they can't figure out. My RSD took over 30 Dr.'s and specialists to find a Dr who knew what was wrong with me. I have been through the ringer with Dr's since 1999, so the waiting room and lobby waiting game is beyond old to me. I understand emergencies happen with Dr's, the least they could do is keep you informed as to why your waiting so long. If they did that with more patients, people mite be a little more tolerant. I have walked out of many Dr appts because of waiting an unreal amount of time, and then when you finally see the Dr you get maybe 5 mins of there time because there behind or whatever. So I will be back here after my appt with him, and let you know how it went.

I had been suffering extreem pain that required heavy narcotic medication to control the pain for over 2 years. My surgeon said I needed another surgery, this time to shore up the fusion that stopped healing. I went to Dr. Huffman for a second opinion about the need for a revision of my prior back surgery. The first surgeon said I needed exploritory and a revision of my first fusion. Dr. Huffman agreed, but also gave me an option for a different approach to the surgery. I agreed with his approach and thought it was better. After surgery I felt so good, the pain I had suffered since the first surgery 2 years earlier was finally gone. I would and will recommend him to anyone who asks.

This Doctor was so amazing that I had to share with you. He was caring and listened to my concerns. He didnt suggest Surgery as he felt that physical therapy would be better suited for me. Refreshing to have a doctor who cares about the patient instead of his own pocket book. I would recommend him to any of my friends or family.

This is not necessarily the doctor's issue, but I was seen over a month ago and was to be referred to a PT. The office staff was to call me with that referral. I have not heard from them, but have called them e times to get this taken care of. I have still not heard from them. Good doctor, HORRIBLE follow up.
