Dr. Jay B Adler, MD

I had an appointment with Dr. Jay Adler today. It was a complete waste of time. After meeting with the doctor, I met with Maria to schedule the procedure. Without checking with my insurance, she informed me I needed to pay her 30% of the doctor's fee up front. I did not understand why I had to pay a separate fee for the doctor and not just my regular copay for my insurance. She collected $235.00. As I departed, she informed me that no-one ever asks any questions. While still in the parking lot, I called the insurance company who informed me the only fee I was responsible for is the $100 co-pay to the facility for my procedure. I went back up to the office to speak with Maria and she would not see me. When she came out to call a new patient, I asked her if I could talk to her and she asked me about what. I informed her that I wanted to know more about why she charged me $235.00. She said it was "in case my insurance company did not pay them." What!??! That is not what she told me in her… office!! I have never had to pay up front in case my insurance company did not pay. The fact that she lied to me in the first place was suspicious. I asked to cancel my appointment and requested a refund. If you go to see this doctor, make sure you don't pay anything up front and that you check with your insurance company as to how much you are supposed to pay. Do not rely on Maria. I wonder where all that money being collected under the guise of the "doctor's fee" is really going.

Dr. Adler is a great doctor but his office staff is, unfortunately, not up to his standards, or above a poor. If you can get past the bureaucracy and in to see him, you're fortunate but dealing with his front desk staff almost isn't worth the visit.

My husband has a few medical issues at the time of his appointment that I made the staff aware of. When he got out of the car he was so nervous he left his phone and wallet. When he got into the office the staff asked for the co payment and at that time he made them aware that he had left his phone and wallet. He asked could he use the phone to call me to bring back the wallet. He was told no and that he needed to reschedule. He then told them that his wife would be right back could he still be seen. Again, they told him no and he needed to reschedule. 15 minutes later I arrive back and he is sitting outside and the appointment was rejected. I asked why wasn't he allowed to call me and was told no one can use the phone because of covid. I then asked why didn't one of them call me to receive the payment over the phone or simply wait and take the co payment at the end of the visit seeing that he told them I would be right back. Again, I was given a quick no. I then reply to… them you can't blame covid on everything. I too work at a doctors office and I allow my patients to use my phone with gloves and a face mask and then wipe the phone down when they are done or I simply make the calls for them. Lori the office manager reply to me is she doesn't blame them for not allowing them to use the phone. I have referred dozens of patients to Dr. Adler on the bases of two things. I myself was a patient and the friendly compassionate staff. Since the staff has now change and the compassion has gone out the window I will no longer refer my patients or be a patient myself. A doctor can be great but he is only as good as his staff. His staff made it quite obvious that $40.00 meant more than carrying for a patient.

Beware.....office manager Lori is one of the most unprofessional rude people that I have ever spoken to... she laughed at me and I stated to her I am not laughing..after telling me they did not have to refund my money after they did not do a procedure and I should thank her... then hung up on me...

getting through by phone was a challenge and oftentimes impossible. I was not satisfied with my treatment and left with many unanswered quesrtions.

Excellent doctor. From beginning to end, everyone was helpful and efficient. The surgical center was great too. Dr Adler is experienced and competent. I highly recommend him.

A supremely competent and sensitive doctor.

When I had an urgent medical concern, I was taken within 2 hours of my phone call. Minimum wait, staff were wonderful, the Nurse Practitioner was so thorough, explained everything and put my mind at ease.

Dr. was excellent. Office manager horrible. Staff not able to help me in rectifying their mistake in setting up a procedure in a non-covered hospital setting. Even though this Dr. was excellent I will not return due to his office staff.

He cares for his patients.
