After an initial visit, Dr Kassem was very unhelpful following up with an unresolved double vision issue. The office staff said he was busy with surgeries and another appointment could not be scheduled.

I saw Dr. Kassem on XXXX for a consultation concerning a tear duct obstruction. I have had this obstruction for over 10 years but another ophthalmologist suggested that I receive and opinion from an ocuoplasty specialist. I have significant eye problems as a result of a genetic defect that manifested in congenital eye malformations. I mention this because I have a huge amount of experience with ophthalmologists over 60 years. Dr. Kassem, like some other doctors, treated me and my eye as a machine. He disccounted the information I presented to him and proclaimed how was to address the tear duct problem. When I explianed that another specialist had given a different opinion he proclained that I must have misunderstood. This other opinion was later reiterated by another specialist. My point is that I experienced Dr. Kassem as arrogant and a poor listener. While I have no reason to question his technical ability I do know that health outcomes, in general, are better when the doctor… partners with the patient. An arrogant doctor is less likely to be open to alternate solutions as he/she already knows the answer. I am a very savy consumer of medical services so will not be returning to Dr. Kassem as there are other surgeons available to me in his specialty. I would suggest you avoid Dr. Kassem unless he feels right to you or you have no choice for some reason.

I was referred to this office, and it was a positive experience. Staff are gracious, and have a sense of humor. It is my first visit, and I met Dr. Kassem. He ordered tests I have never had, and I am interested to find out what possible options may be presented. He was thorough throughout our discussion. A review will be forthcoming after I complete the total experience. I am nervous! However, that's on me!

I can't say enough about how happy I am that I was referred to Dr. Kassem. After a few years of others offering no solutions to remedy the problems with my thyroid eye disease, I finally found someone who actually knew what was going on. Only two months since my GP suggested I go see him, I am post lid retraction surgery and feel like a new person. His work is great and he made me feel at ease and instilled confidence that he knew what he was doing. I would recommened anyone to him, and will be continuing my care with him in the future.
