Dr. Jessica Lixia Pu, MD

Recently I went from working for the railroad to unemployed. So, my kids have medicaid insurance right now. I scheduled my childrens routine check up's at open door health services. The first 3 childrens appoints went well. When we brought our youngest son in (he's 6) things went bad. My soon has always been small, much like I was. He's skinny as a rail and short. I always had a hard time gaining weight myself and was short until hitting a growth spurt in Jr High. I finished high school almost 6 feet tall and a 140#. My son is also a picky eater, but he eats 3 meals a day plus has a snack time. Anyways, Dr. Pu told my wife that he needed to be brought in and weighed monthly. He's only 30 pounds and almost 43 inches. Federal normal guidelines put him underweight by about 7 pounds. My wife stated she didn't need to bring him in to weigh him, because she can do that from home. The Dr. proceeded to berate her in front of the child and looked at him and stated, "he's not… normal!", even after she explained our family history. Then she threatened her with calling CPS if she misses an appointment. Our son is skinny, not malnourished. He's our healthiest child, never sick and very active. So, if you want to be berated, shamed, and threatened with CPS if Dr. Pu doesn't consider your child normal then by all means you should see her.
