Dr. Jody Edward Gilstrap, MD

Dr. Gilstrap was my primary physician for over two years. He was always nice but doesn't really engage in the shared decision-making process of treatment (where I come in with knowledge about conditions that I have been treated for 20-plus years and we discuss options). I fired his office when I asked for advice through the portal (about whether it was safe to temp. stop my life-saving medicine, a blood thinner, before a procedure - noting that I already had done so in prep for my procedure) and I didn't receive a response to my health concerns, just a notice that I needed to make an appointment. I thought he was my trusted primary care physician but his office proved to me that they are more concerned with profits than patients.

I am always amazed by how thorough Dr. Gilstrap is during visits. Never feel rushed. Best primary physician I have ever known.

I am obese. I know it has affected my health but it is not easy to lose weight especially when you are a middle aged woman. He tells me constantly to lose weight and tells me I am obese and looks at me with disgust. I leave his office very depressed and believe I will be looking for someone who does not make me feel like a disgusting, fat blob who doesn’t matter.

I have been seeing Dr. Gilstrap and his staff for several years. Shannon and Cyndi are extremely courteous and professional and a great to work with you for appointments and scheduling. Dr. Gilstrap is great to listen and come up with a treatment plan. Very easy to talk to.

They won't refill your blood pressure medication without a follow up appointment and yet can't fit you in for weeks out. So I guess the possibility of having a stroke is not a concern, just the money for the office visit!

Our whole family has been seeing Dr. Gilstrap for years. He is so smart, and so friendly, and so far, has tackled everything we have brought in. I recommend him to all my friends. He somehow manages to spend a lot of time with each patient, but we never have to wait very long to see him.

Dr Gilstrap spends time with his patients, and ensures they understand their medical diagnoses and medications. He also listens. I've been to doctors who don't care to understand their patients, and are only looking for the bottom line... money. Dr Gilstrap has never made me feel this way. I highly recommend him and his practice!

Dr Gilstrap is a very caring and compassionate doctor who really listens to all your problems. He's not judgmental and is very helpful.
