Dr. John Stephen Reach JR., MD

He's arrogant and doesn't listen. Shushed me so he could think when I tried to tell him something specific about one of my symptoms. Sends me for another test, placating my attempt to discuss my injury. I asked him if it was the most comprehensive test to show a specific injury. He said yes. Now, the moment he silenced me ended up being an important clue toward a diagnosis. Not surprisingly, the radiology report showed the injury; he then disagreed with the radiologist who was right. He turned a simple 6-8 week immobilization and rehab stint into an incredibly expensive($15,000) multi-year odyssey full of pain and learning how to walk again after the rehab he sent me to made me worse. Now, I will have this for the rest of my life. If it's not clear-cut, easy and straightforward, stay away from him. He has only one lane, veer from it, and he will take you down a very long painful path. He ruined my life with something that I would have had a much better outcome if he'd been an active… listener instead of one filled with self-important hubris.

Two years ago Reach operated on my foot and ankle. I went in with ONE problem. After a 4 hour surgery and many months of recuperating, I realized the result was a botched surgery resulting with FOUR problems I didn’t have before. I met with a Reach three times after the surgery asking what happened to my foot/ankle and could he fix the 4 bad problems I was left with. He said he wouldn’t operate on me again then left the room w/o saying goodbye. Subsequently I consulted with 6 ortho surgeons asking them if they could fix the issues Reach left me with. All 6 surgeons said no, they could not fix what he had done to me. 3 surgeons suggested I have the leg cut off below the knee cuz the “foot and ankle were no longer any good to me” After 2 years I am not able to walk barefoot, I can’t put any weight on that foot and I’m left with other intolerable issues he caused with this botched surgery. He literally ruined my life. Do not use this surgeon

this dr. is only in it to make money. does not care about the patient. does no follow-up with no results. he lied in reports and noted that patients are fine...not true. i do not recommend him if you ever want to walk correctly again.

The best in his field for a reason! This is the BEST orthopedic surgeon! My husband fell on Christmas Day, 2018 and even though Dr. Reach was away for the holidays, he came back to review the damage to my husband's ankle (whom he had ever met before this fall) and perform surgery within a couple of days. He now walks as though nothing ever happened to him at all! Thank you, Dr. Reach!

I beg u don’t let this man operate on you. He las literally ruined my life

I had foot/ankle surgery with Reach over 2 years ago. Went in with ONE problem, came out with FOUR problems that 7 other ortho surgeons have said can’t b fixed. 3 surgeons have suggested I have the leg cut off below the knee because my “foot and ankle are no good to me anymore”. I’m still not able to walk barefoot or put weight on my foot. I can’t even get the foot into a shoe or sneaker. This man has literally ruined my life. Don’t let him do surgery on

I was treated by three different podiatrists and I just kept getting worse before I saw Dr. Reach. My foot hurt all the time and it was agonizing to walk. Dr. Reach fixed my bunion and rebuilt my toes, which were dislocated. It took a while to heal from the surgery, but I can walk without pain and enjoy the life I had before I started having problems with my foot. THANK YOU!!!

Over 2 hr wait for routine post operative visit. No one cares about the patient. Staff on lunch no matter what. Doctor is oblivious. Yale is the worst run institution

Dr. Reach was exceptional. My prior orthopedic didn't diagnose my injury fully, had to seek a second opinion. Dr. Reach was thorough in his analysis of my ankle injury, the subsequent treatment and surgery has worked wonders. My daily pain gone! I highly recommend Dr. Reach if you are experiencing ankle issues.
