Dr. John William Welch JR., MD

Dr Welch is a very quiet and reserved man that I took for being unfriendly at first! However, he has ALWAYs been incredibly accurate with diagnosing my children and he calls to check on them as well. Since seeing him more often I have realized he is just a quiet man but he does his job wonderfully and he’s respectful. In my opinion I am more concerned with quality of care than anything else and Dr Welch exceeds my expectations in that area everytime! My children went for years to another Dr in Ky who was super talkative and friendly but he misdiagnosed my daughter who has terrible asthma multiple times and she ends up hospitalized more than once. My kids Dr in Ky also almost allowed my daughter to die with a horrible infection so when I finally took her to another Dr in sky that Dr had her rushed to UK children’s hospital and she had emergency surgery the next morning! I am certain Dr Welch would never allow a child’s illness to get past him as many times as my kids last Dr did. I… appreciate Dr Welch’s quality of care wholeheartedly!

Dr. Welch is an exemplary doctor. He is always very thorough and always takes the time to answer all questions that we might have. He has been our pediatrician of choice for over 15 years.

Dr.Welch was not very caring with my son and his head nurse was even rude. We have been going here for awhile and all of a sudden they said im doing wrong ok i guess im doing wrong by wanting a 2ND OPINION on what he said then head nurse called me and yelling at me and saying im negletful ok i guess if your going to want a 2ND OPINION on something watch out

Dr. Welch has a very quiet spoken bedside manner. He examines patients more thoroughly than most of the other Dr.s I've seen in the past. As I child I hoped I wouldn't have to see him because I knew he'd want to look at everything! But as a parent I count on him not to miss things that other physicians overlook. It is obvious he takes his job very seriously (which is good) but if your seeing him frequently you have to wait because he spends so much time with his patients. I wonder what his laugh sounds like. Sometimes when my children see him I almost laugh seeing how serious he is. I like him for a Dr though!
