Dr. Jose Manuel Gonzalez-Canal, MD

Very poor excuse of a doctor and his staff. I'm a Marine Corps veteran that suffers from PTSD and other mental health issues and I'm being treated by the VA. However, I wanted a second opinion from a private doctor. My personal medical doctor referred me to Dr. Gonzales, (Same medical group) but it took me nearly two months to get in to see Dr. Gonzales. When I showed up, 20 minutes prior to appointment, I did not have my personal insurance card with me, so, the staff cancelled my appointment. So, what this tells me is that this Doctor and his staff care more about being paid than the health of the patients. With that attitude he should not be considered for referral by anyone. While I offered to make other arraignments to get my insurance card to them, none were accepted. I was canceled because I lacked a piece of paper. (FYI, I was up at 3:30 AM to 8:30 AM hunting for my insurance card, my wife is on vacation in Iowa to return in three days, but they refused to wait for that health… care card. and cancelled my appointment)

If you are a few minutes late, he won't see you. My appointment was at 11:30. I arrived at 11:32 due to heavy traffic/accident. I was told the doctor waited a minute or so then headed to the hospital. This is absolutely no way for a professional to act.

He never made eye contact in three visits. After the third visit I gave up. The VA docs are better. That should tell you all you need to know.

I saw Dr. G for a number of yrs., never really spoke to me about problems, out me on huge doses of drugs, was very good at that! I got Parkinsonism from 1 drug he put me on, exact symptoms of Parkinson;s disease, but caused by an overload of drug in your brain! He should have given me blood tests to measure amt. of drug in my system...NEVER DID!!! Also misdagnosed me, really never paid ant attention to me, office visit over in a matter of 10 - 15 min. Only question asked, :do you need any scripts??? He is very dangerous giving out huge doses of meds! I think he cares more about his looks, dying his hair, hair falling out, etc., than his patients. I certainly cannot give him a good rating. Plus, his office staff nice to you as long as you give them gifts for Xmas, etc. They lie for the dr., keep making excuses for him, etc.! Beware of him!!!

Love the desk service, he is always a pleasure... The dr. Is fast!!! However I appreciate it!! I don't have time to wait! he does remember details... I have kept him longer if need..... Been seeing him since (maybe) 2009

Wow it was so good to know it was not just me, I took it personal when he just sat in front of his computer for the fastest appointments in history. Just the message a person with psychological problems to begin with needs to have happen when you already have the self esteem of a gnat. Really for such delicate situations that need to be addressed, that may not be his calling in life.

Not only did this doctor mis-diagnose me - but he never even assessed me. I am not sure WHAT he based his diagnosis on but he certainly not only TERRIBLY and HORRIBLY mis-diagnosed me but he "laughed" about his diagnosis - without ANY evidence or justification to even make a diagnoses. Don't make the mistake of trusting this gynecologist - turned - psychiatrist - run people, run!!!

He never did any assessments and then incorrectly diagnosed me. I asked him what he diagnosed me with and he would not even let me know. I took his prescription but never filled it. Glad I didn't - who knows what it would have done to me!!!

Keeps his nose on the computer and says very little. good at giving out perscriptions

I found Dr. G very friendly, caring and very easy to talk to. I wish more doctors could have his humility.
