Dr. Kenneth Polivy, MD

I am a dentist of many years experience. Dr. Polivy's office squeezed me in when other offices wanted me to wait 7 weeks. They knew exactly what they were doing. I scheduled a cortisone shot for my lower back with him. Now I am so much better. High marks for experience, skill, and his excellent team. I know the good ones from the pretenders. Dr. Polivy is as good as it gets.

Went to see this Doctor on the Monday before Thanksgiving as an independent medical exam for a workers comp case. I must say I was surprised by what the doctor put in his actually report to the judge as it was not anything like what he said to my husband and I after the exam. As a medical profession it honestly is a sad feeling to know that medical doctors can be so nice in person and then write something totally different in their letter to the judge. I can only assume he is being paid by the workers comp people to say that an employee can go back to work when more than 3 doctors said the employee cannot return to work.

As others have noted in their previous comments "Dr." Polivy receives a high volume of workers comp related patient's for a reason. I wish I had done my research ahead of time so I would have brought my attorney or at least another witness because the physical "exam" was an absolute joke. He had terrible bedside manner and whoever the woman he brought in the room with him awkwardly stood in the corner and looked miserable. He barely touched or moved my injured arm in a way that would allow him to determine or confirm what type of injury I had. He would ask me questions and then cut me off as soon as I started to answer him as if he didn't want to hear something that could affect what he would later write. He also reviewed the MRI's I brought for him for no longer than 5 minutes. I don't even know how he could have put the DVD in his computer and opened it that quickly let alone review it. He came back in and told me the injury looked the same in both MRI's but then documented that… the injury had changed over time. He then completely contradicted himself when he had to write a follow-up to what my orthopedic surgeon wrote. I wish there was a way to post pictures I took of the room I was in. I've never been in a patients room that had carpet, a massive printer in one corner and a stack of papers and other random objects in another corner. There was also no sink or even hand sanitizer in the room. I've never been in any doctor's office with a room like his. It's very disheartening that there are doctor's out there like Dr. Polivy. If you get sent to Dr. Polivy make sure you bring a witness with you. If you are looking for an orthopedic on your own please DO NOT go to Dr. Polivy.

I went in with undiagnosed hip pain but not expecting a need for hip replacement. He introduced himself, sat down, pointed to an X-ray in the wall and said “you’re going to need a hip replacement”. There was no preliminary discussion only a few words to the quiet unfriendly assistant beforehand. He wasn’t interested in answering questions but was so very quick to recommend three surgeons with a more lengthy discussion of their backgrounds. When I said I will have to think about this, the assistant snatched the referral list from my hand! As this was my first encounter with an orthopedist I was left very upset for a week until I started doing my research. I also noted that besides the unfriendly assistant, the secretary who registered me was overwhelmed with her tasks and was not happy. It appeared that Dr. Polivy was running a high volume conveyor for surgical referrals. It is worth noting that I have not encountered any other doctor who left me dissatisfied!

This “so called Gods Gift” to companies is a disgrace - get a lawyer to attend a so called 2nd opinion. He did a 2 minute exam & then spoke about a previous illness I have had since birth. Perhaps because he makes over $1000.00 per visit he won’t buck the piggy bank with integrity & honesty.

Dr. Polivy was so kind and professional. He spent a lot of time with me listening and doing a thorough exam. Dr. Polivy’s PA was wonderful and kind. I think all the staff at Orthopedic Associates is very nice. A very well run office. Thank you everyone.

Mr. Polivy was assigned to my workmen's comp case as an "Independent Medical Examiner". He never did a personal exam but had the benefit of an MRI before and after the injury. He came up with a conclusion the labor department panel called "patently ridiculous", a case I won and then won a 2nd time after Liberty Mutual appealed. Liberty Mutual should be ashamed of themselves as a company for even considering Mr. Polivy for a credible source for future IME's, but they will because Polivy is simply a hired gun that gives them what they want.

Beware and abandon all hope if you are sent to this insurance shill. You will wait as I did for a long time in an uncomfortable chair with horrendous music playing at high volume. You will be given at best a cursory exam, asked questions that your answers to will be misstated and from which a report full of falsehoods will be generated. Bring a witness and a cell phone to secretly film the entire encounter. Better yet, bring two witnesses and a film crew.

After a 5-8 minuet exam the so called dr. went out in hall and was speaking to what i assume was a secretary that he does NOT go to court and give testimony he only normally writes reports , went on and on same subject..someone obviously requested him to back his probably phony report in person .. this dr wrote a report that was 405 truthful and 60% false .. if requested to go to him by insurer..DONT
