Good surgeon, horrible bedside manner. He yelled at me because I was upset about complications after surgery.

After months of researching numerous surgeons for gastric bypass surgery, I selected Dr. Sprunger. His genuine concern for my health and progress has been an added bonus from him and his staff. My surgery went perfect, with his explanations before surgery and descriptions of what will happen before, during and after were perfect and put me at ease. The surgery went off perfectly and recovery was pretty easy with all his descriptions of what I needed to do to help myself. I recently had my three month check up after surgery and the excitement and pride from him and his staff was AMAZING and made me feel so good. I love the fact that he genuinely seemed happy, excited and proud of my success and I am focused to improve my success even further because of the excitement and encouragement from Dr. Sprunger and his staff. His office staff shows genuine concern and excitement for my success and that is the best feeling I could get from a medical staff. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sprunger… and his staff to anyone who needs assistance with weight loss.

Dr. Sprunger I'm positive does some of the best bariatric surgery in town. The problem is he is an angry arrogant person who is a bit of a bully. I'm not certain that he has the best interests of all his patients at heart. Some of his patients definitely need the surgery but some women have PCOS or hormonal disorders which need addressing instead. Also complications, revisions, unexpected expenses and deteriorating nutritional health are KNOWN concerns but Dr. Sprunger probably uses his intelligence to try to discount any concerns. He may try to make patients feel dumb for asking questions and he is vehemently against patients reading any unbiased info online. If you have NO other options and your BMI is over 50 then maybe you need the surgery. But if you are better off than that Dr. Sprunger may still be pushy and belittling if you express hesitancy. He demands 100% lockstep belief in his views yet he will throw in plenty of disclaimers about future potential complications and… future surgeries (with a hint of a guilty smile). I think he is all about money.
