Dr. Lawrence Richard Shampain, MD

This involves an 8 yr old child in a crisis center. During a family meeting call I was screamed at ,was told he only had 5 minutes to spare, he was rude, I could not speak unless I spoke over him, ridiculed and basically told your kid has behaved for 3 days so come and get him. He did nothing to help with the serious issues at hand. Nothing the family advised him of was taken into consideration and we were made to feel like we were the problem. When I told him I was reporting him his response was “ good I’ll give you my address” Stay away from this guy. Absolute horror!!!!

Left a message for a return call. Took 2 days and when he did call he was rude, would not let me speak, advised me he had 5 minutes to speak with me even though this was about the care of a child. He yelled at me and when I told him I was reporting me his response was”good I’ll give you my name and number” Do not trust your child to him!

I saw Dr. Shampain when I was a child, almost 20 years ago. Dr. Shampain is, without question, the least professional doctor I ever encountered. He diagnosed me with depression and insisted I take antidepressants because my mother reported that I was grumpy in the morning. When I questioned him about weight gain from the medication, he laughed at me. As an adult, I know that I did not meet the diagnostic criteria for clinical depresssion and that the class of medication he prescribed is known to cause weigh gain. What I found most disturbing - and can never forget - was the photograph of his (?) child apparently potty training. Total creep!
