Dr. Lekshmi R Venugopal, MD

All about money...not the patient. She created more trauma without investigating the patient. When you are in mental health and dealing with real human beings who are shattered and suffering, stopping their treatment half way through is unethical. Dr. Venugopal is exactly that.

I have been a patient of Dr. V's for years now. She has been a huge part of my recovery/ treatment from depression and anxiety. She is careful, consistent, and wonderful. She has been a great physiatrist for me when during times I've been stable and managing my symptoms and doing great, and times when my symptoms have gotten worse and I needed immediate and powerful help. Reader, please take all reviews with a grain of salt: not every doctor is perfect for every patient, and with mental illness, it can be difficult to evaluate objectively.

She is personal, and I feel like she knows me well and cares about me personally. She is very slow in managing medications and will only give you to the exact date of the ones you need until the next appointment. It keeps me accountable to visits, but it is also very inconvenient at times to have to resubmit a new script each time at the pharmacy. She will not do mail order pharmacy with insurance. When I first saw her for depression/bi-polar, she monitored me like every 2 weeks and it was not a good thing to go that slow with medication doses when you are feeling like a loser with depression. She will let you decide on what medication to take out of a list of ones she gives you and will not give you more than you need. That makes me feel safe despite the slow process of getting to the right dosage.

She was awful. She put me in the hospital under false pretense. She would not respond to me while I was in and refused to try any other treatment after the initial treatment didn't work. It actually made me worse. It came to a point that she was a trigger for my depression. Other former patients of hers and a therapist shared the same views of Dr. Venugopal.

Not very knowledgeable when it comes to diagonesing or treating but at least has a level of respect and descreation for clients
