Dr. Lilla Gyires Berck, MD

Have to go to another doctor for antibiotics because D Berck said I had a virus not sinus infection. Won't go back to her. The medication cleared my problem in four days.

I've been a patient of Dr. Berck for quite a few years and hadn't had a need to see her much until I had a very traumatic life experience 6 years ago. Dr. Berck has been nothing but kind, patient, and caring. I never feel rushed and am asked more than once during my visits if I have any other questions for her. She acts like she has all the time in the world just for me. Rarely do I have to wait more than a few minutes to see her, but if there is a small wait time, she is very apologetic. I highly recommend Dr. Berck.

I think Dr. Berck is the most courteous, professional doctor I have ever had the pleasure to know. I will be a life long patient!

I have been s patient for a few years now and when I first saw Dr. Berck I admit I thought she needed to take a more caring bedside manner. The words were there but no emotions behind them. She basically asked me what I wanted from her and gave me that. I didn't feel like I got her opinion. I just saw her again. It had been awhile and it was like seeing a different doctor. She pulled up my chart and made sure I was caught up on everything and gave me recommendations and even prompted me to have something looked at further that had been bothering me. She was very friendly and professional. I was very pleased.

Dr. Berck is a caring physician who takes time to explain tests and findings and never makes me feel rushed. She is thorough and professional.

I accepted an appointment with Lilla Berck because all the other doctors at Medical Hills were not accepting patients. There is a reason why she does not have a wait list, and I must encourage you to pass on her and wait for a better doctor.I had been sick for months; unable to hold down food on most days, suffering from bad headaches, and experiencing a great deal of fatigue. My general practitioner had no idea how to help me, so I thought seeing an internal specialist would be the best way to find relief. I could not have been more wrong.I had my first appointment with Lilla and I will never go back again. She walked into the room and asked me why I was there. I began explaining my symptoms to her, but she kept interrupting me. She seemed very annoyed and asked me to repeat my symptoms again. She spent about five minutes with me. Then, without looking at my paperwork or asking me any questions about my family medical history, she told me I had a sleep disorder and I needed to go in… for a sleep study.I explained to her that I didn't think I had a sleep disorder, and that I would rather start with blood work. I told her that I would have to pay for the sleep study out of pocket and that I would rather eliminate other possibilities before doing that.She told me that I was wasting time; that a "woman of my size" would almost certainly have a sleep disorder.I insisted I wanted to seek out other options and she sharply said, "Fine. Go sit over there so I can listen to your heart." Before she pulled out her stethoscope, she once again insisted I had a sleep disorder and told me I was putting my health in serious danger. At that time, I decided to end the appointment. I was so upset that I could not stand to be in the examination room any longer. I told her I was leaving because our appointment was going no where and that I would not be back in to see her. She quickly approached me and tried to rip my paperwork out of my hands. I told her she wouldn't need it because I would not be back.I called the office manager and expressed my concerns. He was not at all sympathetic or helpful. A few weeks later, I got a bill to pay for Lilla's services. If I didn't care about my credit score, I would refuse to pay it. She doesn't deserve a cent from me.I waited about a month, and I got in to see a better doctor at OSF. He took the time to listen to me and showed a great deal of concern for the way I had been feeling. He asked me a lot of questions about my past and my family's medical history. He reviewed my chart and spent a great deal of time with me at my appointment. He never once accused me of lying nor did he refuse to believe me. He was incredibly thorough and made me confident that I could trust in him and his medical opinion.Guess what, Lilla? It wasn't a sleep disorder. It was a thyroid disorder -- just like my mother was diagnosed with at my age.I don't know what it is about some doctors. Just because you went to med school doesn't mean you have all the answers. Just because you work at a clinic doesn't mean you know my body better than me. Just because I have to call you doctor doesn't mean I have to trust or respect you -- YOU EARN THAT THE SAME WAY EVERYONE ELSE DOES. You obviously have a lot to learn about being a medical PROFESSIONAL, Lilla Berck. You failed at your job, and you failed me. I could have gone on feeling that way for months and months. All you had to do was listen, be thorough, and care about my well being. If you can't do that for your patients, you got into the wrong field. Anyone who is reading this and wondering if Lilla is worth a chance should know she isn't. Wait for a better doctor, or you will just be wasting your time and money.

Dr. Berck is always friendly. Not only does she ask smart questions, but she seems to actually care about me and my health. I've had a persistent health problem, but she she hasn't given up on me and is committed to helping me get the medical attention I deserve.

Excellent, caring physician for my elderly parents who she has seen through many difficult times. Easy to talk with, takes her time, open to patient preferences, respectful, knowledgable. Good support for after hours care in this group. I'm changing to her based on multiple experiences with my parents.

Would not recommend her- other Dr's in that same practice are MUCH better. She did not really help ask questions or get to the bottom of my medical issues after blood tests came back normal.
