Dr. Marcelo R Rivera, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Rivera's for more than a decade. He has a firm understanding of my varied and ongoing health issues, with his broad knowledge of all aspects of internal medicine. He listens, you can actually have a TWO-WAY discussion with him! I'm glad he's my Primary Care Provider, and I hope he practices forever. Thank you, Dr. Rivera. Marc Ogas

Dr. Rivera didn't show up for an appointment I made weeks in advance for an emergency visit. Very disappointing!

I called the office to let them know lab did not have my paperwork and the receptionist said basically it was my fault, I should not have waited at the lab, I should have picked it up at office. Funny, since the dr office called me to get all this done before dr went on vacation. Receptionist was rude and very unprofessional. Did not appreciate it.

Several years ago my mother went to Dr Marcelo Rivera, her PCP, with complaints of bad abdominal pain. He told her it was bruising from a fall she occurred over 5 months prior!! There was no acute Or chronic symptoms from her fall. She never hit her abdominal area!!! He did NO tests to further id the pain. Not even to test for a Urinary Tract Infection!! 2 days later we had her in the ER for her Abdominal pain!! We were told a couple days later that my mom had Abdominal Cancer!! Dr Marcelo Rivera told the family this devastating news at the nurses station in front of nurses & others visitors, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! 2 weeks later, after attempting to get her transferred to a Cancer Specialty Hospital, she DIED!!! Two different attempts to get her transferred out of Palomar Hospital to the specialty hospital were delayed (paperwork not signed by Dr & social worker "lost" paperwork, Twice?, social worker/case manager named Debbie Montgomery)!! A letter was written to the… administration at Palomar Hospital, and nothing was done about it!! This Dr Marcelo Rivera NEEDS to RETIRE!!!! Scary he's still practicing!!!

Dr Rivera is not the example of a kind and worried doctor. He cones across rude abd uncaring. I will not go back to him. Even his check up was not complete.

I come to see Dr. Marcelo for three years because his treatment is very right to my illness; he is very experienced and smart, and would like to listen to patient's situation and update his treatment plan if things got changed; plus his medical knowledge is very wide. I also introduced my wife under his treatment later.
