Dr. Mark Arthur Dettelbach, MD

I saw Dr. Dettelbach for benign vertigo. He ordered a hearing test that was performed w/ many chances of error (e.g. using my non-dominant hand). I then informed him that I thought I had crystals dislodged in both ears. He ignored that, treated only one ear, instructed me how to sleep. By ignoring the other ear, he made the situation much worse, and I was unable to walk without the room spinning and fell many time. Further, IMHO, Dr. Dettlebach is only interested in selling grossly over priced hearing aids, but linking his poor hearing test with the possibility of dementia. No reliable study links the two. The charge for the hearing aids was about 2 - 3 times higher than the comparable ones sold at Costco. AVOID this doctor. I believe that he is a shyster.

I saw great reviews for this doctor online and was surprised that my experience was different. First, he was not friendly. Just came in and did his thing. I was asking him questions about how to treat the issue vs him telling me. On top of that, he said he didn’t know if my ear infection was viral or bacterial and it was a 50/50 guess. One choice meant I had to come back in a week and the other meant I didn’t. So why in the world would he choose the one where I had to come back - except to make more $. Also surprised that he can’t tell the difference between the two in the first place. At least I would feel a little better if he was friendly but not friendly at all. I wanted to like him but very disappointed and did not go back for second visit.

What a wonderful experience. My mother had the same ENT for over 30 years so I had a little trepidation about taking my elderly mother to a new Doctor. Dr Dettelbach was terrific and spent time putting her at ease, figuring the best approach to her problem, and treating us both with utter respect and good humor. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

Dr. Dettelbach did a great job diagnosing my son's problem and listening to my concerns. We had an excellent experience and highly recommend him.

Dr. Dettelbach treated our daughter for recurrent ear infections, and put in ear tubes not once but twice. I can't speak highly enough of him. Both procedures were smooth and basically stress-free, and he didn't push us either time to get it done, just made recommendations based on her history and the fact that she had trapped fluid behind her eardrums. Highly recommend.
