Dr. Houston and his staff are excellent.

The reviews from 2011 and 2012 are written by the same lying person and are old and wrong!. They are out right lies with completely incorrect facts. They should be removed from this site. This type of uncontrolled comments on this site may bring a lawsuit to this website for deformation of character.

there are 2 things I have to have in a Doctor..... Really listen to me and be open minded if I don't want to take the latest TV pharmaceutical. THIS is Dr. Houston. He's smart, kind, and extremely thorough. AND YES..... some of the lab tests he recommends can be pricey.... but you can always decline it for awhile until you have the money and just opt for the basic Lab work. His motivation is to detect a problem before it begins.... I.E. ultra sounds of the heart...... He's NOT trying to make a buck.... He's trying to save your life. He also is an advocate of Vitamins and supplements over MEDs and this I adore. I've taken them and they've turned a lot of my issues around.... I REALLY mean that. I had awful insomnia back in 2009... but he worked me through it and in one month i was sleeping again. But once again... back to the most important thing. HE REALLY LISTENS. He doesn't make you feel stupid if you question a treatment.... He's not… condescending like so many doctors i've been to. I know right now you're going through many reviews of GP's.... this is your man.

The two posts that were one star about Dr Houston are both fabricators of the truth. There statements are totally incorrect, non factual and ridiculous. Dr Houston of one of the best MD's in the US and all of us that are his patients love him. Patients from all over the world come to seek his expertise in hypertension and cardiovascular disease. He is internationally known for his clinical work, research and teaching abilities. He is intelligent, compassionate, caring and has very high work ethic and is very ethical in all of his medical practice. Those who wrote disparaging comments should be ashamed and take a close look at their own issues. 99,9% of his patients would give him 5 points. It only takes a couple of odd people to attempt to ruin a reputation on a uncontrolled internet site.

I had an appt with Dr Houston and he ordered so many unnecessary labs and tests that were not relevant to the issues that were presented to him. I was also provided an invitation to a very pricy dinner at his personal residence in which one of the state representatives would be present. I am a college student who doesn't have $500 per person to spend on a dinner at my physician's house, especially since we spent a total of 15 minutes together over the course of 2 appts. I was never able to have my questions addresses as he was too busy pushing supplements for a company in which he is a sales rep. The supplements if taken for 1-2 years were supposedly to help lower blood pressure so you don't have to take prescription meds. Those supplements cost almost $2500/year and he is the sales rep. It all seems very unethical. Even his nurse his a rep with a different company and she gives you all kind of pamphlets as well. After paying to receive all of my medical records from him, I have only… received half of them. For the last 2 years I have received a letter from him stating if I wanted more personalized service, his personal email, and ability to get an appt sooner than most, it would be necessary for me to send a check made payable to Mark Houston MD for $2000. Shouldn't your doctor be accessible without you having to pay an additonal $2000? Did I mention he ordered approximately $15,000 worth of test on me to tell me my Vitamin D was low? I had it rechecked immediately at the hospital where I work and I was well inside the normal range. If you are looking for a salesman and not a doctor and you are willing to spend a large sum of money for services that should be standard care he is the doctor for you.

My mother went to Houston after her blood pressure became unstable; both too high and too low. Houston gave her a half day of tests. Then he added calcium supplements to the already prescribed common blood pressure medications for my mother, and reduced the dosage. She is much better. So for her, its the supplements that reduced the range of blood pressures.ThanksThanks

Please beware of this physician. If you aren't independently wealthy, you definitely want to avoid seeking treatment from him. I'm in the health care field and feel that he orders unnecessary tests just to receive compensation. He even offers his patients an option to pay his office $5000/year to receive "special" treatment such as exchanging e-mails directly w/ him, receiving priority appointments, and having special check-in/check-out procedures. In my opinion, he is not only unethical but he is also a crook. He has contracts with companies that sale supplements and perform lab work. Most of the lab work that he orders isn't needed. Be careful! I'm being billed hundreds of dollars.

a wonderful caring doctor.... I've searched years fora doctor like this and I'm so grateful to have found him.He doesn't just throw meds at you. He's very intosupplements, fittness and solving the problem.... not justtreating the symtom.
