Dr. Mary Lee Zasadil, MD

My Dad was cared for by Dr. Zasadil in the ICU this summer. He was admitted with prolonged cardiac death (bridged to defibrillator by prolonged bystander CPR). With the odds against him, we had no idea if he would live or have a meaningful outcome. Fast forward 10 weeks and he is being discharged from rehab, going home to independent living, walking, talking and doing absolutely fantastic. At this point, he is at about 95% of his baseline cognitive functioning and 100% of his physical functioning and has made such rapid gains it is astounding. Our entire family is incredibly grateful for the amazing care he received from Dr. Zasadil and her team in the ICU. Most people would not have expected to live through what he went through much less walk out of the hospital and return to normal living. From speaking with him, you would never know that anything had happened. His personality, sense of humor and language is completely intact. I am certain that had he not been med-flighted… to UW cardiac ICU to be cared for with the expertise of Dr. Zasadil and her entire team, he would likely have a different outcome.
