DR. TODD CUTS FROM HIP TO HIP. A WEEK IN THE HOSPITAL. IN SOUTHERN CALIF. THEY MAKE 5-1" CUTS AND 1 NIGHT IN THE HOSPITAL. I LOST 150LBS. IN 6 MONTHS. THEY DON'T TRY TO CONTROL YOU LIKE DR. TODD DOES! FROM 1-10 DR. TODD -1. DR. PETER LEPORT IS A 10+ !!!! HE DORSN'T TRY TO CONTROL YOU & YOUR PERSONAL LIFE LIKE DR TODD DOES!!!!! WAY BETTER IN LA PALMA, CALIFORNIA. WAY WAY MORE EXPERIENCE THAN DR. TODD !!

Staff is below par. They are uninformative and combative when questioned. Follow up is a problem due to voicemails being full and unable to leave messages. Questions on insurance go unanswered or incorrect.

I saw Dr. twice and didn't get the respect nor care that I deserve. He knows he is on the only Dr. in AK to provide Bariatric service and takes advantage of that. My insurance was billed wrong. I was told it would be rebilled under a different code. Didn't hear anything from them for over 1.5 yrs. Then started receiving bills again. Was told they overlooked it and will submit new code for rebilling. Here we are 3 yrs later and now they are sending me to collections and claim they have no record of any of the phone calls and/or conversations we had. They agree the code is wrong but yet "can't do anything because it's now in collections."

All in all, I believe that AK Bariatric Center has a wonderful, well rounded program. There are things that could improve, but the setbacks are well worth the friendly, welcoming atmosphere, and the doctor that seems to genuinely care about my health and well-being. PROS: -Education. Alaska Bariatric has an excellent program, and by the time I had surgery, I felt like an expert on the subject. It made me far more comfortable with the concept of going under the knife, -Support Group; Dr. Todd requires 3 meetings prior to surgery, but I went to every one that I could. -Staff; The ladies at the office were nothing short of wonderful, and made me feel at home at each of my numerous appointments. CONS Wait time; This is my only major complaint. Any time that I was set to see the doctor I quickly learned to clear my schedule and bring something to do, because I was in for a WAIT. I waited upwards of an hour to be seen by the doctor.

I called with the need of getting seen and treated right away- his office followed through and have gotten me on the right track- so far it's been a great experience and a great staff

I can not express how amazingly Dr. Todd and his staff worked with me. He was very kind, thoughtful, and gave me the impression that he genuinely cared about my well-being. From what I have experienced for myself, and from what Ive heard from other patients, Dr. Todd is willing to go the extra mile to make me feel safe and secure pre-surgery, on the operating table, and post op. I would not trust my care to any other surgeon for Bariatric needs.

He is an incompetent surgeon.-Failed to operate on the diseased organ-Failed to prescribe the correct medication-Failed to properly diagnose complicationsWhat should have been a very short recovery ended up taking months requiring additional surgery (by another physician). My disease continued to progress when I went home and my cries for help went unanswered. I had to go to the ER to get help and had to fire him to be treated.During both admissions he failed to either communicate or recognize obvious complications. He got defensive when he was asked questions, and really only talked to me about when I'd be discharged. I was never rude to him but he treated me, my family, and the nurses like we were sub-human. It makes me sick when I think that I could have died from an easily treatable disease if I had remained under his care.
