Dr. Michael Nicolo Ferrandino, MD

I am writing to document a deeply distressing and unsatisfactory experience with Dr. Michael Ferdinando. Following a ureteroscopy and laser lithotripsy performed to treat a kidney stone, Dr. Ferdinando informed me that a camera had been broken during the procedure. However, he did not disclose that, although the stone had been fragmented, it had not been completely removed. I later learned that a residual stone measuring approximately 0.5 cm remained, which is at the threshold of potentially passing spontaneously. Notably, despite being aware that I was scheduled to leave the country the following day, Dr. Ferdinando did not inform me of this critical information. During the subsequent stent removal, Dr. Ferdinando demonstrated a concerning lack of attentiveness to my condition. Despite the significant and unbearable pain I was experiencing, he did not inquire about my pain level or overall well-being at any point during the procedure. Instead, he instructed me to open my legs or he… would leave the room. The experience was profoundly distressing; the level of discomfort and the manner in which it was handled were so severe that even the attending nurse appeared visibly affected. Based on my personal experience, I found Dr. Ferdinando’s conduct to be indifferent, lacking in empathy, and inconsistent with the standard of care and professionalism expected in a medical setting. I would strongly encourage prospective patients to carefully consider their options when seeking urological care.

Never experienced a doctor like this. He appeared distracted, jittery, talked very fast and answered no questions. Bizarre. Had the wrong information and, even though a computer was right there, did not look up the information . Didn’t even get to say two words just talked over,and then abruptly left. Most bizarre experience ever.

I have been under Dr. Ferrandino's care for the last year due to a very large renal cyst. I appreciate his doing two less invasive procedures before it became apparent that full abdominal surgery was necessary. In January, both cyst and one very damaged kidney were removed. The kidney ultimately tested positive for renal cancer. I don't think I am overstating it - Dr. Ferrandino saved my life AND by removing the kidney has kept me from needing follow-up aggressive chemotherapy. I am grateful for both the surgical skills and knowledge he has provided in my care. Over the next few years, whatever future tests show, I have complete faith and trust in Dr. Ferrandino and his care.

Referred for a kidney mass. Horrible experience. The MD was condescending and did not act like he cared about my concerns. Only cared about getting me to the OR. Like money was his big concern. No trust.

Exceptional physician. Spends adequate time with me. highly recommend. Great surgeon

Dr. Ferrandino carefully explained my diagnosis and how the surgery would fix it. He was completely accurate. Very special communications skills on top of the most important surgical skills.

I am so glad my local doctor was able to refer me to Dr. Ferandino. He is wonderful and I would never consider seeing anyone else. He is an excellent surgeon and his bedside manner is amazing
