Dr. Michael Todd Happel, MD

Dr.Happel is one of the best doctors that I have ever had . He takes the time to really listen to whatever your problem is . He is very polite but always professional .

I absolutely love Dr. Happel. He is very honest... to the point of being almost blunt, but not at all insensitive or uncaring. I like that he asks for my input and opinions. For the person who said there are NO bathroom facilities... I am very sorry your mother had an accident, but they are on the far left wall of the waiting area. If you didn't happen to see them, someone at the front desk would have directed you. I have gone in there when patients were on the floor having a seizure or had an accident and the staff are always very kind , respectful and compassionate and will get one of the Dr.s if necessary.

I like Dr. Happel, however after telling my daughter she could get in touch with him anytime, she could not!! She is being treated for migraine headaches and tried to get in touch with him to discuss other medication. Called both the Metairie and Lacombe offices several times on several days and did not ever talk to him. The ladies in the Metairie didn't care even after telling them the pain she was in!! I hope he is not losing patients because of this. My daughter is now going to see another doctor because of this!!

Dr. Happle has been treating me for years for migraine headaches. He is a wonderful doctor, very responsive, very concerned. I highly recommend him.

When I select any doctors, I check if a doctor is Board Certified and if a doctor was AOA(Alpha Omega Alpha) at their medical school because AOA member ship is given only to the very top few medical students of high academic standing in addition to the high ethical standing. Dr.Happel has BOTH. Also he is the most compassionate doctor and spends time listening to his patients. When and If I am dying ,I want him to be my doctor as I trust him.

Although he seems friendly enough, he shows contempt for patients by making them wait unusually long periods before he shows up. Today, for example I had an appointment for 8:30 AM. I sat in his office until 9:15. He did not show, and his staff had nothing to say to me. The same thing happened at the last visit--that time I waited an hour. That time he eventually showed up without a word about being late. I'm getting a new doctor.

Dr. Happel is very good, treated me for 28 years. Cares very much medically.

I've been seeing Dr. Happel for the past 2 years for neurological complications of an auto-immune illness. 1st.. he is thorough. 2nd.. he believed me and didn't write me off as crazy, he assured me my troubles were indeed valid. 3.... takes all the time I need to listen to my questions AND he actually answers them. 4... gives me options. 5... follow up is great. A very knowledgeable and caring Dr. with a great bedside manner. I have had zero problems with my calls being returned. I go to the LaCombe office, so I can not comment on his other location/s.I am very pleased with the care I receive .

Dr. Happel was able to answer my question in a way I could understand and spent the time needed to make sure I knew what options I had to make an informed decision about the best way to treat my condition. For the guy who said no bathroom was available, you should have left the office and had an eye exam next.

Abnormally long wait in the office; no bathroom facilities in office--my mother wetted herself; when problems occurred with the medication Dr. Happel prescribed it took the doctor 3 days to respond to my phone call to his staff (which was on a Friday morning; he got back to me the following Monday evening); overall I just don't feel he was fully invested in my mom's care.
