Dr. Michael Patrick Donahue, DO

I don't understand the negative comments. No one is perfect, but to suggest he or the staff doesn't care is false. Some people are never happy I guess. I've been his patient for 11 years and he's performed 6 surgeries on me. Yes, I see his PA, but she's amazing too and always communicates well with him. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. Unless surgery is the obvious solution, he starts small and explores all options before surgery. He welcomes second opinions. He's a veteran and his dad was a Vietnam fighter pilot so to suggest he doesn't care about veterans is to say the least, pure... ignorance! I've referred multiple people to him and everyone of them has been grateful for him; I think you will be too.

I had a lot of pain in my neck and shoulder as well as buzzing in my right arm. Dr Michael Donahue and Sara Wierzbicki, PA, walked me through physical rehab and cortisone injections, which were required by before doing more invasive procedures and when that didn’t work, we made a plan to fuse c-5/6 and c-6/7...one month later, no pain or buzzing, 100% better. His staff and nurses are top notch, they are totally wired (text,e-mail) for appointments, follow ups and meds. Thank you for some of the best medical care I’ve ever had.

I gave this doctor 3 tries to get my point across, I thought maybe I was not clear on my end. But no, he is just not into the patient's story, or into helping them. I gave up, seeing some one else. Do not waste your time. He sure wasted mine!

I had been referred by my family doctor to see Dr Donahue because my family Doctor held him in such high regard. I really looked forward to hearing what he had to say. I took my MRI disc and got there on time. I was told he the doctor wanted x rays so a tech took me for x rays and then his PA came in and told me what she thought which was to basically get some shots first and if my back pain came back Dr Donahue would do surgery. She took me to the hall and showed me where the problem was and some guy asked if I had brought Starbucks for everyone. I was drinking a coffee I had purchased on my way to the doctor office. I basically ignored it because I was on my way at that point to get my prescription and referral for the shots. as I was walking to the reception the PA said "by the way thats Dr. Donahue" Since I wasn't important enough to even get an introduction I think one star is more than generous.

LET THE BUYER BE AWARE: Doctors maybe excellent in what they do, however, doctor Donahue rating is stated above. Patients see more of the medical staff, and patients are (customers) form a option about doctors from how the "Medical staff" handles patients (customers) at doctors practice. I am saying that this Doctor is poor 1: This doctor only wants to do SAFE PROCEDURES and says he does other; however, that is not a true statement. Doctor turns to his staff to upset customers it a point that customers get so upset and then this doctor will cancel his surgery, because this doctor never wanted to the surgery in the first place. “Great Doctor to do business with” 2: In my professional option: This doctor is not (Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital material) or the name today is: (Ascension Crittenton Hospital) based on the above items. 2. Summary: This doctor (Dr. Michael P. Donahue, DO) should look for another profession. There are so much strange behaviors… with doctors today, that we all should work together to find the REAL DOCTORS they are out there to assist you in any medical needs. I suggest that you check around either at "Beaumont Troy, or Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals" for an excellent back surgeon. I came to see this Dr. for a horrible neck injury. I saw his PA first then he came in and did not look at my MRI or anything else I brought. He talked to me for 8 minutes then went out to a desk in the hall. I had to ask my questions about my condition in the hallway? He then came in and showed me replacement discs and dropped them in my hand the left again in the hall to complete patient charts? I asked to see him in the room and he said questions at the hall desk outside of the room were fine but not with me. I just left and would not have him touch me ever. HE is rude and uninterested in my condition BUT I am so glad I waited because I do not need neck surgery if ever, if I can manage my pain issue and I have. Think twice before neck surgery because it is not the total solution and it opens a door for more surgery down the road. I am not a fan of this practice and the office staff is very rude. This Dr. thinks he is really "cool" but is not.

I have seen Dr. Donahue 3 times. The first time he said "OH My" outside the door when he saw my MRI. He sent me for s new MRI but didn't think it was going be much better than the three year old one and it wasn't. He told me I should be in a wheel chair and he couldn't understand how I could touch my toes, do swats, stand on my toes and heels. He told me go away, you'll know when you will need me. I recently went back to him because my pain management doctor said he was coming to the end of helping me because my spine was closing up and he was having trouble getting the smallest needle in to stop my pain and go back to Dr. Donahue and see what he had to say about the next step. I went, he saw that I could still do all the stuff and said he usually does one or two levels of repair and mine would be four levels, a nasty surgery and a very long rehab and after the surgery I would only be able to slightly bend at my waist. He said you know how I love to do surgery but I don't… want to do this and I said "glad to have met you but I'll pass. Once more he told me you know where I am when you have to make another decision. Honest, very kind and he believes in miracles.

I have had 3 neck surgerys and 1 lumber fusion in the past. Dr donahue did my last lumber surgery and found I had a broken rod from the past surgery. He is a very very good surgeon and I would highly recommend him to any one . If you are worried and are in pain he is very therol and will not push you in to something you don't need.The hole staff is great.

I saw this Dr. for 5 minutes, his PA did the work. He was too busy reading x-rays outside room. I hurt my neck in a terrible fall and he would only talk to me with his back to me as he was real busy? So, I will NEVER ever see anyone in the ENTIRE PRACTICE EVER! Staff very rude. I did see a Dr. Spencer Bertram at Crittenton who does a pain procedure every 6 months so I would not need neck surgery anytime soon! I was actually told to wait as this opens another door so to speak and am so glad I did. I was saved by looking around and getting answers from Doctors' who actually care about your welfare. You can have Dr. Donahue and all his glory, he does not care about you at all and that is sad. There are other good neck surgeons out there SO DO NOT GO HERE!!!!
