Dr. Michael Bennett Purnell, MD

Very thorough and explained my injury and diagnosis.

I have also tolerated the incredible insensitivity and devaluing of people's time because I truly appreciate Dr. Purnell as a person and a physician, but do not go to this office unless you are retired and have nothing but time on your hands. They are NEVER on time. The last time (today) I was told they were on time at the front desk and the told me they only had one person ahead of me. So I waited, and waited, and after 45 minutes I came outside only to see the PA, who was to see me, hamming it up the nurses as I waited. So I waited longer and finally inquired again. They said I was next. I finally got up and left. I cannot take this disrespect. Too many lies and far too much blatant disregard for the value of your time. Don't go here!

Most arrogant md I've ever had. Was at least 30 mins late to surgery. Had entire staff waiting nurses, anesthesiologist , not to mention myself. After surgery i never felt right but he didn 't see me. Had to go to my primary who thank god stayed by my side & put me on antibodics. Because after 10 months had past finally found out I had mrsa. When my primary found out what I had he called from his office directly & told me to go straight to his office. He had me hospitalized & cleaned out huge blister i had developed. Then told me he cleaned it out & said I was good to go again. He sent me home on antibodics 12 days after surgery I had all the same symptoms all over again. Went back to see md & he wanted me to go see md friend of his to do some review of my knee. I had to stop working cause i felt like i was dying. He was not a young md & had to have had other cases of MRSA before & why he could not or would not recognize what was wrong with is beyonf comprehensible. My husband had… kaiser Ins & since i was no longer employed i moved to his Kaiser Ins. Even though this md was contracted by Kaiser they yanked me out of his care. They did test & turned out I had hot spots of mrsa all over knee that md had claimed would be fine after he cleaned it. I could have died. Took me almost 3 years to get a clean bill of health. But my knee has never felt right too much damage due to neglect of care from Dr. P. I was so sick that even goverment didn't question my permanent disability application. Was approved immediately after phone call & few questions answered. Took me awhile to realize how sick i really was. Again Thank God that Kaiser took such Great care of me. Beside all permanent damage I have I also lost my livelyhood as I now have live on limited income from Soc Sec. Had I know what I know now I would have ask staff to wheel me back to my room when he didn't even have courtesy to show up on time for planned surgery & would have looked 4 another md.

Dr. Purnell is one of my favorite doctors. I had knee surgery and shoulder surgery with him. I thought everyone in the office was kind and professional. I thought Dr. Purnell was very kind and caring and very careful about any other health problems I have. I had so much pain before my surgeries and they turned out so well and no pain or problems now. Dr. Purnell really cares about relieving pain in his patients. I have had other surgeries with other doctors which turned out ok but my experience with Dr. Purnell was much easier.

Excellent care and results for both surgeries.

I went to see Dr Purnell and was not happy , I have had pain in my shoulders and neck for years now , my MRI show a tear, fluid, tendinitis, impingement, and more, he gave me some creams that didn't even help and made it worse , a cordizone shot that didn't help , then all he said was it would get better on its own REALLY AFTER YEARS OF PAIN AND CANT EVEN BRING MY SHOULD UP HIGH. He Should even be a doctor.

I waited over an hour to find out that they made my appointment with the PA instead of Dr. Purnell. Then the xray tech was not there so I was unable to get my xrays. Then they send in Dr. Purnell who has horrible bedside manners. He walked in and gave a half a$s apology for the wait time. When I started telling him my frustrations, he said I already apologized to you. Then he went on to say he didn't tell me he was going to do xrays. OK I am a liar! I walked out! I would never recommend this place to anyone!!! He tried to blame his staff for my wait time....OKAY....
