Dr. Michael G Wierschem, MD

After a lot of research, I decided to use Dr. Wierschem for a couple procedures he offers through his Men's Health. I'm glad I did. I have been MORE than happy with the results and with Dr. Wierschem. I would HIGHLY recommend using him. He was very professional, and his staff was more than kind.

Used wrong tool for Shockwave therapy compared to what all other doctors use for the procedure, destroyed tissue, causing me the worst pain if my life now for weeks after.

After having this Doctor do a total of (2) Kidney Stone Procedures, I ended up feeling that he lacks Patient Empery and has a very abrupt attitude about him especially when things are not going the way that HE feels that they should be ? also his communication skills need to be refined towards his patients.

My primary care physician referred me to Wierschem as a precaution as a result of a recommendation of my attending doctor during a recent hospital stay. Wierschem recommended that I get a MRI at a different facility which was later challenged and rejected by my insurance provider. I feel this doctor's bedside manner definitely needs to be checked. The much bigger problem that I experienced was the obvious inexperience and unprofessional support staff that the doctor employ at his office.

Horrible office staff. They do answer phones, return calls left at their answering service and do not reply to appointment requests on line.

Dr. Wiershem has changed my and my wife's lives. He has great bedside manner, with a great sense of humor and is very friendly and easy to speak with. He took a lot of time with us to show us the procedure and answered questions with words we could clearly understand. I have referred Dr. Wierschem to many friends and have had nothing but great reports and statements that he helped them tremendously!

Had 2 meetings with Dr. Wierschem over 2 1/2 weeks. The first visit, I brought to his office a CT indicating I might have a mass in my kidney. He ordered a CT with contrast to verify. The 2nd meeting, I was told I had kidney cancer and it was now in my adjacent lymph nodes. That he was going to do a urethral biopsy of the kidney next week and at some point they would have to remove it. That was it. No mention of a PET scan (to determine where else it was), no review of the Radiologist report as to location and potential type, no mention of chemo... nothing. Meeting lasted less than 5 minutes. I decided at this point to change urologists. Changed to UTSouthwestern and a well known urologist. Within a similar 2 1/2 week period, I had a PET scan (indicating it had spread to distant parts of my body which changed treatment drastically). An interventional biopsy of both the kidney and lymph nodes (is an aggressive rare form of kidney cancer), a port installed and my first… chemo treatment... All of this done in the same amount of time Dr. Wierschem was going to take just to get a biopsy and still not know where else it was in my body the cancer was . I am pleased with my decision to change,

Office staff is rude and does not return phone calls. Doctor and staff are unprofessional and fail to display even the basics of good patient relations. Most doctors offices will call you if there is a problem, but this place will not. I have dealt with many doctor's offices and I understand it's a common practice to withhold medications if you haven't been there for a while. However, this is the only one I've ever seen that will not at least let you know there is a problem. They seem take some kind of weird joy in punishing you. Neither the office or the doctor think they should call you if there is a problem. They just let you try to figure it out.

He has been my Urologist for years. I am completely satisfied and feel fortunate to have him as my doctor.

Very rude, arrogant, condescending, and doesn't seem to care what the patient's concerns are at all. Rush in, rush out. He had me in tears and wouldn't even look me in the eye to show one ounce of concern. Unfortunately, only doctor nearby that accepts our insurance! Staff is great but doctor is exactly what he looks at all day! Maybe should have also specialized in proctology! I'm in the medical field but I've never been treated in such a demeaning way by a physician.
