Dr. Michele Suzanne Maholtz, MD

I had an initial appointment with Dr. Maholtz eight days ago. I was surprised that at no time was staff in a mask, I was never questioned about having coronavirus symptoms, no temperature was taken, and I was never asked to wear my mask. During the initial visit, I was told that I should be scheduled to have a CAT scan of my lung(s) done. Upon checking out, the front office staff member said that she would take care of that. Now, eight days later the scan hasn't been scheduled. When I called Dr. Maholtz office a little while ago, I was asked if this (CAT scan) was an emergency. The staff member said that she had been really busy. My lung issues have not improved and I told the front-desk staff member this. It seemed to me that this lady couldn't be bothered with something as trivial as scheduling a diagnostic procedure, a procedure recommended by her boss, Dr. Maholtz. I ran my husband's dental office for over 40 years. I fully well know competent staff from incompetent… staff. In my 70 years, I've never been treated so poorly in a medical facility.

Dr. Maholtz is an outstanding clinician. Thorough, attentive, responsive with an unusually strong understanding of allergic asthma. Her clinical assistants are very similar. That said whomever manages her practice's records is rude, impatient and apparently incapable of accurately entering/maintaining patient records . That said, Dr. Maholtz inspires so much confidence one can put up with an incapable and rude bookkeeper.

I was given an appointment for 2:15 PM and told to arrive at 2:00 o'clock. I arrived at 1: 55 and was given a clipboard with forms to fill out. I filled out the forms and returned them to the front desk at 2:08. I then sat and listened for the next 23 minutes to the ladies at the front desk make fun of patients calling in after the patients had hung up. At 2:31 PM I had been in the office 36 minutes and I informed the lady at the front desk I was waiting no longer and was leaving. She very casually said "OK" At no time was I impatient, rude, loud or otherwise offensive to any person in the office. No person in the office was rude to me, I was just very uncomfortable with their remarks about other patients and sitting waiting for my appt. No other person was in the waiting room. A person I thought was a drug salesman, was immediately shown to the room at the back of the office while I was waiting.

After a visit to Dr, Maholtz a few weeks ago I was simpy amazed at the fact of Dr. Maholtz calling me after hours to advise me how serious my condition was and how serious I had to get about issuing my c-pac machine. A wake up call for sure. She was very very caring and concerned and I truly appreciate her dedication.

Dr. Maholtz is the BEST, she is very thorough and takes time to explain. They even have an exercise room right there and a very friendly and encouraging staff!!!! Love them all, I finally know I'm in good hands!!

I communicate with multiple doctors offices everyday. Dr. Maholtz office staff is the BEST! They are extremely polite and accommodating. The doctor herself is AMAZING!!! I would recommend this office to any of my patient's in need of a pulmonologist.

I work for a nonprofit , acting as a professional advocate for the elderly and disabled. I work to help frail seniors, and the disabled gain a form of medicaid that can give them in home help. I contact doctor's offices all the time, and am aware of what a stressful and busy place a doctor's office can be. I always try to be courteous, soft spoken, and succinct, so that the office has no reason not to want to pick up the phone when I call. This being said- I cannot say that I've had a less professional or compassionate office staff customer service experience than the one I've had with this office. 1.) I called, and was immediately hung up on. 2.) Thinking it was a mistake, I redialed, was put on hold (expected), and when the individual got back to me, I was loudly scolded for calling on a monday morning to check on the status of a form , and that there was no way she could check for me now. As I had faxed the document Friday, and the client is an urgent, state managed case-… I had a professional interest in contacting them early. However, I politely told them that I would contact them later in the day. 3.) I was called ten minutes later by the same individual, who very loudly and angrily expressed to me over the phone that the Dr couldn't possibly take the time to complete this form, and that I would need to contact another Doctor. This is not the first time an office has said this to me, in my line of work- its a detailed form, and I understand the time it takes- However- I am very rarely yelled at, or scolded for even sending it to a doctors office. If I had been given a chance to speak, I would've explained the reasons for my attempt to complete it. The staff person hardly took a breath the entire time she was speaking- and there were no pauses as she was very angry. 4.) I did attempt to interrupt her once by stating "Listen, I am simply attempting to advocate for this individual"- and would have explained that this person was, in fact- an individual that the State has identified as a high risk, frail client in crisis, and I was merely attempting to get help- I WOULD have explained this, except that the staff person started yelling "YOU NEED TO LEARN OFFICE ETIQUETTE- DONT JUST STOP SOMEONE AND SAY "LISTEN"- HOW UNPROFESSIONAL" . This rant continued on for another minute or so during which I was not given, again, an opportunity to speak. 5.)When I asked to speak with an office manager because of the exceptionally poor customer service I was receiving, I was immediately hung up on. 6.) I do not know what my 80 year old client, who's primary language is not english, and has no one else to help her- would have done if she had been in contact with this individual, and was waiting for the office to complete the form. I can only imagine she would have cried, given up, and simply stayed silent, unable to cook, to walk down the stairs, unable to take a bath by herself. I don't know if this was just a bad day for this individual- but it was simply an awful and discouraging experience. I would be wary of calling this office.

Went beyond the norm in checking for cancer .. showed a great deal of concern. Recommend her highly...

Dr. maholtz spent time explaining my condition and doing necessary testing. Very nice bed side manner as well as professional.

Wife is 40 years old coughing blood, and with severe emphysemia. Maholtz has been totally useless and dont care at all. I am sure she is perfect for elderly people that just needs refills. We are switching after 1 year of absolutely no answers, Very dissapointed. Staff is ok, clean nice office. If you are young dont go there.
