Dr. Moni Abraham, MD

Recently took my mother to Dr. Abraham for the first time. My mother needed clearance for surgery and we had been having difficulty obtaining it. Once we were called in, Dr. Abraham’s assistant nicely did her part, took the info she needed, and gave me a direct fax number where I could get the documents faxed for Dr. Abraham to fill out. While waiting for Dr. Abraham I made the call to try and get the documents faxed, I was on this call when Dr. Abraham walked in. She assumed I was on a personal call, which I understand would be disrespectful. First thing she rudely said was “I need my space” I had placed my mom’s purse and a clipboard with a form that the front desk had given me on the table that I now realized she needed for her computer, I immediately removed the things while still on the phone. My sister who was with us also immediately tried to explain I was on the phone with the other doctor’s office trying to get documents faxed to her. Dr. Abraham interrupted my sister, got up… and irritated said she would be back when we were ready, or something to that extent. I understand how valuable a Doctor’s time is, I know it’s us receiving a service that we are very grateful for, but the way and the rudeness in how she handled this I think is unacceptable in a doctor. When Dr. Abraham came back I let her know I did not appreciate how she was treating us. Instead of just apologizing so we could move on, she justified her unprofessionalism and insincerely suggested we start over. The rest of the visit felt rushed, my mother is 80 years old and I need to translate, I did my best to be quick, and towards the end Dr. Abraham tried to be nice, but this wasn’t enough for me to want her as my mother’s primary doctor or to want to come back to her. Also, because of this, I would not recommend her to seniors or to people who’s primary language isn’t English, or basically anyone who needs a little patience, empathy, and maybe humility when needed. I hope this was just a bad day the Dr. was having, and I wish her the best in her profession.

I think Dr. Abraham took her time to help me with my medical problems. With her help I feel I am on the right track.
