Dr. Paul John Fenton, MD

Dr. Fenton replaced both of my shoulders within last 7 yrs. Wasn’t told about risk of blood clots post-op; I almost died from numerous pulmonary emboli so now I’ll be on Xeralto for the rest of my life. Had accident this summer that I thought caused injury to one of the replacements as I immediately had SEVERE pain. Rude office staff (ongoing issue for years with same person, which many others mention in these reviews) refused to get me in for an appt.; was told (sharply!) it would be a 2.5-month wait or I could “just go to the ER.” Finally, no longer able to take the pain, I saw Dr. Fenton this week after nearly 6 months of pain so chronic and severe I can’t sleep, bathe, etc. without great difficulty. Could’ve had X-rays FREE at my employer (local hospital), but his office insists you have them on the spot in the dr.’s office = $$$. I could barely raise my arm, but I guess the X-rays looked okay and so Dr. Fenton simply said, “Wait til warm weather and it may feel better, or return.”… His other advice was “don’t baby it.” Whaat?! I can hardly use it due to worsening pain, so what shall I do—go lift some weights when I can hardly turn on a faucet?! I’ve already powered thru nearly 6 months of pain so severe I can hardly dress myself for work nor sleep. I used to LOVE this doctor—very sweet and easy to talk to. But after the PE nightmare and now this latest experience, I’m extremely disappointed. I felt totally dismissed (as an older professional female), and I’ve known him through work for 15+ years. Due to rude front-desk staff; great difficulty getting an appt. as a long-time/established pt. with considerable ongoing pain; being forced to have all diagnostics done in his office that my insurance only partially covers; and now this dismissiveness, I’ll find another surgeon. Note, Dr. Fenton: If I could’ve waited another few months with this much pain, I would not have paid my own money to see you NOW, after already waiting several months! If some extra time and simply “better weather” would make it better, why did it get so much worse throughout numerous weeks of beautiful, warm summer and fall weather? I could not have been a more loyal ambassador for Dr. Fenton nor his practice, having referred several of my friends to him over the years. For what health care costs today, where is the accountability? Consumers beware. Very sad.

I have had both knee replacement surgeries by Dr. Fenton. He is a caring, professional physician. I never felt rushed through and he took time to answer any questions I had. I am now pain free. I have read comments about the staff being unfriendly. The staff at the desk are professional, but not overly friendly. The nurses are very caring and easy to deal with.

Rude staff, unwelcoming and unfriendly, complaint to HR pro medica, even to the doctor himself. Other patients who have been to this facility have experience the same rude behavior by the front desk girls. You will never see a smile, never a hello or welcome. They will all give you a nasty unwelcoming look. Horrible staff. Still amazed they are employed there. Considering every other patient has experienced that.

The doctor himself was great, took his time and very down to earth. However, the the front desk staff and personnel are without a doubt the rudest, most,unfriendly unwelcoming staff I have ever seen. Anone who has ever been to this facility will notice that. You will never see a smile or a "good morning" or " welcome to wildwood how can I help you" I totally felt unwelcomed, and noticed this is the approach they do with everyone who approach the front desk. Not one single person is friendly, they look miserable, angry and annoyed. I'm actually surprised these girls are employed there. When I initially made my complaint even to the doctor, I came to find out, I'm not theven only one. Almost every patient will confirm their unwelcoming, unfriendly rudeness. Which is pretty sad, because the doctor himself needs to check his staff, because even though he is a good surgeon, I would not recommend a pt to that facility, due to the girls working up front. If my opinion is not taken… seriously, try it yourself as a first time costumer and approach the front desk. They will approach you unwelcoming with a Yes???

I had a supposedly simple knee scope which turned out to be a terrible nightmare. I have a blood clotting factor and went to a hemotologist prior to the surgery and was told to take a shot of Lovenox within an hour after surgery. Dr. Fenton said wait until the next morning before taking the first dose. He also said he would not use a tourniquet during surgery but said he did so days after the surgery. I developed a DVT and had a long rehabilitation and have adverse effects years later. I would not recommend using Fenton for surgery.
