Dr Paul Shook does not follow best practices for heads up shoulder surgery at Presbyterian medical center, he does not follow the protocols put in place by the Anesthesia Safety Foundation and has been investigated by the NC medical board. By not following these best practices up to 20% of his patients will experience mild brain ischemia resulting in serious memory loss and cognitive functioning.

This doctor has treated my husband for two procedures. We were most concerned about the anesthesiology component of his surgeries, but Dr. Shook made us feel at ease, and the procedures both went fine. He treated my husband so kindly and respectfully.

Dr. Shook helped me so much when I delivered my first child. I was very nervous, however he talked to me and helped me to enjoy the experience, pointing out that it is the experience of a lifetime, and one that may or may not come again. My epidural procedure went very well, and he was courteous and patient with my questions.
