Dr. Peter Joseph Anderson, MD

I chose Dr. Anderson because he is a highly qualified surgeon. On my initial visit, the increasing pain I had thought was due to my sciatic nerve was dismissed promptly when Dr. Anderson saw my X-rays, and a hip replacement was scheduled. His office called when an earlier surgery was available, and the surgery was performed without incident. Follow-up showed a perfectly placed implant, and I am pain-free. I found Dr. Anderson to be refreshingly direct, and I would go to him again. If you do not want to be treated like the adult you are, find someone else.

Told us what we already knew: no brake or fractures. My son's foot pain was progressively getting worse after 3 weeks of rest. Dr. Anderson told my son to take Aleve and if the activity hurts, don't do it. He barely spent 5 minutes in the room and didn't inquire about how my son's foot was feeling. He then proceeded to say he would cast it if it didn't get better. What ever happened to finding the actual problem instead of covering it up and doing random things to fix it?!

Don’t subject yourself to his ego. He didn’t address why I was there, do an exam or even want to deal with the orthopedic issue I was there for. Within 45 seconds of entering the room I was told to lose 50lb and when explaining some of the challenges that are medically verified by 4 physicians treating a diagnosed condition it was a 5 minute argument that I need bariatric surgery with zero knowledge of my background and unwillingness to even listen. I simply wanted a knee checked, feedback of my activity is ok. Unwilling to listen and too quick to cross into specialities he clearly doesn’t know but did a $h!t performance for an ortho since I would think assessing movement and a joint would be critical but he saw, heard, felt nothing - I sat there as he spewed insults and hate. I regret not walking out as I wanted to

Arrogant & rude. Wouldn't let me ask questions. More interested in speaking into his dictaphone than talking to me about my concerns about my knee. I've gone to him twice thinking he might have been having a bad day the first time. He will not get a third chance!

Dr. Anderson repaired my rotator cuff that had a massive tear in it. I was told by my other physicians that this is one of the most painful surgeries you can have. Dr. Anderson went out of his way to make sure I understood the procedure and also understood that the damage was very severe and might not be fixable and what would need to be done if that turned out to be case. I had health problems not related to the rotator cuff that needed my urologist to be called and for him to come to the operating room to do a procedure before my shoulder could be done. Then it took forever and a lot of different people to try to start my IV. All this delayed my surgery and I'm sure put Dr. Anderson behind schedule. He was very kind and joked with me to try to relieve the anxiety that I had. He was very thorough and made sure I understood and all my questions were answered. He saw me several times in the hospital after the surgery and any time after that I had a question or problem he or one… of his staff contacted me back immediately. He was able to fix my problem and I experienced very little pain after I got home from the hospital. I have a history of blood clots and kidney problems that make me a risk for surgery. He made sure that each of my other health issues were addressed and everyone taking care of me knew about them so that they could be monitored. My husband and I can't thank him enough for the excellent care and consideration that we received. My husband was updated throughout the surgery and Dr. Anderson made sure that any questions or concerns he had were addressed until he understood. I would recommend Dr. Anderson to anyone that might need his services. He is a very nice and caring individual.

Dr. came into room shook my hand, did not say who he was, asked why I was there (knee pain), then told me I had arthritis and needed a knee replacement. After I told him no, he offered a cortisone injection but continued to push knee replacement. Visit took 5 minutes. Will not be returning.

What a joke! Comes in, shakes your hand, and that is the last time he will touch you. He will keep spending your money and tests, but if the tests don't show what is wrong, he hasn't a clue because he won't "touch you" to figure out what is going on. Loves to give tremendous amount of shots. Will send you to physical therapy with note saying "evaluate and treat". Poor therapist didn't know what to do either. Find a different doctor.

Worst doctor I have ever seen. Very unfriendly to me and my husband at urgent care in bethalto, il.. I do not recommend this Dr.or this facility. We also double billed and very expensive even with insurance.

Worst appointment with a physician I have ever experienced. He barged into the exam room, interrupting his friendly nurse who was getting some background from me and began to ask me questions. He never let me explain why I was there, or even finish a sentence for that matter. He basically told me that I was lying about my medical history, and previous treatment I received based on the 30 second "exam" he performed. I wouldn't waste the co-pay. I will not be returning, even though half of me really wants to come back with x-rays (that he refused to order) just to prove him wrong. Also, for some reason his entire practice moved at some point between the time that I made my appointment and the date of it.... not surprising for how terrible of a doctor he is...

While filling out new patient paper work, I was called to the exam room. While trying to finish the paper work, the doctor came in and told me I could finish that later. He asked me a couple of questions then pulled out a needle, that he had ready inbeknownst to me, and gave me a shot in the hip. He proceeded to dictate his note and gave the wrong birthdate. I politely tried to interrupt and he waved me off and continued with his dictation. I interrupted again and he finally stopped long enough for me to tell him that was not my birthday. He left the office and came back. No apology, no explanation. Nothing. That was quite a few years ago. Now, I understand he is no longer at SWMC....hmmm.
