Dr. Jean Joseph Martineau, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Martineau for quite sometime and have never had a bad experience. I think Dominique is just wonderful and have taken some good advice from her. I thank their entire office for working with me. My life has taken a much better path.

If I could provide NO STARS I WOULD. The staff is incompetent and clearly don’t understand English. I was only 7 minuets late for my appointment and it was cancelled because she said I was 30 minutes late! Unbelievable! Service is poor, customer service is terrible and just disrespectful.

I have been a patient of his for over 3 years, he is very easy to talk to and listens to me when I need him to. His staff is very friendly.

I had been a patient of Dr. Martineau's for about 10 years. I have always tried my best to communicate with his office staff, Dominique, who is quite cold and can be difficult at times, but I found a good relationship with her over time. I had seen Dr. Martineau as he came highly recommended by local doctors and contacts that I'd asked for referrals. He is definitely well known and respected in the Jupiter/Palm Beach areas. Although he is difficult to understand as his accent is thick, I liked his style very much. He is bright and thoughtful and does behave exactly as what I imagine a "classic" or "textbook" Psychiatrist should. I respected Dr. Martineau until about 2 months ago when I called for a follow up appointment. I was told I wouldn't have one for 2 months. When I asked if there was anything sooner because I felt I was in dire straits, I was told by Dominique "You haven't been here in 6 months, so you'll have to wait." I asked her if all patients are now relegated to being… bumped for 2 months to get an appointment and she said no, that because I hadn't been to see him, I'd have to wait longer. I was really sad and disappointed, but reluctantly made the appointment. I waited the 2 months (and struggled emotionally). When I called the day before my set appointment to confirm it with them just to be sure, Dominique responded "OH! I meant to call you. Dr. Martineau said you should see the other doctor who has been giving you your refills" (that doctor is my father, who is also a Physician and who Dr. Martineau knew was giving me the refills). I explained this to Dominique, but she repeated herself. My only response was "Ok, so what I am understanding is that Dr. Martineau no longer wishes to see me. Thank you, goodbye." Thus ending my long and good relationship with Dr. Martineau. I am sad to say goodbye to someone I've invested so much time with, who has helped me. I feel it's a mistake to have front office personnel deliver these messages to long standing patients, but obviously I was not someone he felt he wanted to treat anymore. I have personally recommended Dr. Martineau to every single person who has asked me for that information, but I will no longer. Any Practitioner that can treat a patient in this way is not anyone I would ever refer a friend, or even acquaintance to see.

I've had 2 visits thus far & appreciate this dr's understanding & compassion. He recognized symptoms which I was not ready to discuss & for that, it forced me to come out of my denial cave & work on my issues. I hate taking medications d/t the myriad of side effects & that too was taken in consideration in my treatment. I know one other person that sees this dr too. And, has said the dr is compassionate & spends enough time with his patients, whereas other past psychiatrists prescribed & dismissed within only minutes of the appointment. I'm hoping I will find relief from my overall psych sxs & have a better quality of life. I'll write an update accordingly.

This quack makes me half as psychotic in rehab with 40 mg vyvance during alcohol withdrawl then accused me of some "mental illness" I told him I would be fine after a good night rest but him and the rest of the staff try coercing me into taking seroquel in the morning after sleeping all night. Then this goes on the next morning as well with if you don't take it you have to leave. I wen't to a hotel and didn't drink like he and the staff at Recovery Resources Juno Beach hoped so there friends at the detox place could get some more money from my family. This guy is an uncaring quack who thinks all of his patients are "5150" and he can abuse at will.
