I wish I could give them zero stars. Where to begin. I've been a patient for over 6 years. When I first started going everything and everyone was great. All the staff knew you by first name and were incredibly sweet and caring. But then things started to change. My NP left, all the staff left. They then had to switch me to another NP. Dr. Solomon also decided to purchase another practice in Port Jeff which didn't work out. After being with the new NP for 2 years, she left as well. Dr. Solomon then decided to open up an additional practice in Huntington. Everything went to s..t then. There's a new face at the desk everytime, no one knows who you are and that belonging feeling is gone. You're not a patient anymore, you're a paying customer. His 'claim specialist' is probably the stupidest person I ever encountered. I spent $1600 for a test and she is so stupid she couldn't get the claim approved for 6 months. The killer part, my insurance already pre-approved the test and it takes her… 6 months to figure out how to submit a claim when that's her job. Not to mention they weren't keeping me in the loop so I requested to speak to the manager. He was very rude and blaming the insurance company. BTW the 'general manager' just happens to be Dr. Solomon's son. Dr. Solomon has turned his practice into a business empire, not a mental health practice. It's all about the money now. They literally charge you for nearly everything and I'm honestly surprised they don't charge you for using the toilet. I'm so not kidding. So now I was now pushed on to my 3rd NP April Lee. She is beyond horrible and knows nothing about psychiatry. She has said to me numerous times "I don't know how to help you or what to do with you". Comforting when you're struggling so much. She did send me to Dr. Solomon once and I was impressed with his knowledge. He said he would oversee my case with April but he never did. I literally have to run the sessions with April because again, she doesn't know what she's doing. I literally walked out of a session because she's so dumb, has no plan of action, and makes it very clear she doesn't want to be there. Run from this money making business and find a different practice.

I have been Dr. Solomon's patient for over 10 years. Either the man is completely burnt out or he experienced a tragedy because the quality of patient care he provides has declined progressively over the past 5 years. Gone is his easy going manner and his warmth. There seems to be a constant turnover in staff. Nurse Practitioners, who he now refers most of his patients to barely last a year. No one answers the phone anymore. It is all very sad.

I have not met Dr. Solomon but this site came up when I wanted to leave a review for the recent testing and therapy my 11 year old son receives. He and my husband and I have been through a lot over the last few years. Finally making progress with this practice. Thank you!

My 11 year old daughter has ADHD and behavior problems. We went to two other therapists before and she did not connect. She now loves her therapist at Island psychiatry and also gets her meds prescribed there at the same time.

I saw Dr. Solomon twice and now see Regina, the nurse practitioner. Excellent experience all around and even got a lower fee as I am between jobs.

I saw Dr. Solomon for 8 years before moving to Maryland a few months ago. Have a new doctor now to treat my anxiety and makes me realize how good Dr. Solomon was. Explained everything, really listened and knows his work. My new doc is OK but no real comparison and he just focuses on the meds. Never felt like that with Dr. S.

I have seen Dr. Solomon for five years since my mother died suddenly. Caring and compassion define the man. He is not all about meds and money and started giving me a big reduction in fees when I lost my job. Shame on these people who are not his patients and use this site to trash him and his excellent staff. It's so obvious they are not patients.

From the first contact with the staff at Island Psychiatry to the excellent evaluation and treatment, this is the way all health care should be done!
