After going to vascular Dr’s at Danbury and Yale who told me just to keep walking, Knowing my left femoral was totally blocked and my right femoral was partially blocked.At that point those Dr.’s wanted to do bypass surgery . That would have been the final treatment for them. Dr. Hsu reviewed the tests plus did his own and proposed drilling out the arteries 1 leg every 2-4 weeks. God bless Dr. Hsu, he stented the arteries with great results. A year plus now, testing every so many months Dr. Hsu is extremely happy that my femoral’s have great blood flow. I totally recommend Dr. Hsu who will do his utmost for his patient’s. J.

Richard Hsu never bothered to look at the ultrasound performed prior to surgery. He then left my leg permanently discolored and in pain. When I informed him that it hurt, he had the audacity to accuse me of seeking pain medications. The Dr. then wrote everything he could think of in my file to give the impression that his screw up was my fault. What a disgrace to his profession.

Dr. Hsu goes above and beyond what most surgeons would do to help his patients. His team of caring professionals are top-notch. My son was 11 years old when he had surgery with Dr. Hsu, he was in debilitating pain before surgery, from MALS. Just a few short weeks after surgery, our son made the High School Swim team! He went from being home-schooled to back at school full time. Our son stills struggles with POTS, but his symptoms have improved. He no longer has MALS pain.

My daughter had surgery with Dr. Hsu in 2016. She was in horrible pain and misdiagnosed for 2 years. Dr. Hsu diagnosed my daughter and did her MALS surgery. She is pain free and enjoying life. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this amazing surgeon and his staff. He saved my daughter from a life of misery and we will be forever grateful!

Dr Hsu was absolutely amazing with my daughter m. She was sick, beyond sick on a feeding tube unable to even sip water without pain. He was highly recommend by so many patients we flew from Texas to Connecticut just for him to see her. She has her celiac plexus block which worked great so he recommended the surgery. I am happy to say that the surgery worked and she is doing amazing. He has been amazing every step of the way, he has kind, compassionate, understanding and super knowledgeable. He understood about her other conditions even the ones he didn’t specialize in. He treated her with respect and even though she is a child (14) he made she she understood what was going on every step of the way. I can’t recommend him more, I haven’t met another doctor quite like him

I had surgery with Dr. Hsu a year ago and initially felt him to be invested and caring. I based this opinion on ignorance. He phoned me shortly after receiving my CT scan and called me several times in a row until he reached me and felt this was impressive, especially since I was desperate and tired of chronic pain. He told me the words I wanted to hear....he thought he knew what was wrong with me. Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome, a rare issue that can cause severe pain. After traveling to CT to receive his required diagnostic, a celiac plexus block, I met with him to discuss the fact that the block worked for about 2-3 hours. He told me if "If you like how you feel on the block, I recommend surgery." When I asked of his success rate with this difficult surgery, he told me 96%. I was nervous, but as part of a private FB group that surprisingly refer to themselves as his own fan group, my intuition was made to feel foolish. Whenever anyone on any of the MALS support pages… made a less than favorable comment about this doctor, they were blocked, cut off or crushed by certain Hsu fans. Now I know why. A year after this painful and difficult surgery, I STILL suffer with the SAME SYMPTOMS as before. I didn't have other issues....just the symptoms of upper epigastric pain that I can feel in my back. At the time, Dr. Hsu, who was just building his MALS portion of his practice at St. Vincent's Hospital, told me that my symptoms were "classic MALS." Post surgery, he told his top fan and cheerleader that he wouldn't operate on people like me any more because the surgery didn't work. Oh, and his self-touted success rate? Who knows HOW he keeps track of that, because neither his office, his staff or the doctor himself do any follow up with patients to see how they are. After that first post operative visit you become unknown, despite what his fans say. A call or two later, you may receive a call from his PA, TIm, who actually had the gall to tell me, "We don't have a crystal ball" when I asked him why I had the same symptoms as before surgery. I know of dozens of failures and many horror stories post surgery as a result of his casual manner of qualifying patients, or misdiagnosing them! Has this doctor helped people? YES. But my advice is.....meet more than one doctor who does this surgery and go with the one who PROMISES to see you through to the end. With a supposed 200 surgeries in one year under his belt and the hospital bringing in $50k a surgery, they are chuckling all the way to the bank ,whether you get healthy.....or not.

Dr Hsu is the most incredible physician. I was suffering from median arcuate ligament syndrome and Dr. Hsu's surgery was completely curative! I was wasting away from malnourishment due to the inability to eat because of severe post prandial pain. Dr. Hsu is the most incredible surgeon and person! To me he is like God as he save my life! He is a rare gem!

I had seen other doctors for severe vascular issues in my legs. Without having the necessary expertise, they added to the issue. Dr. Hsu corrected the underlying problem. He is now at The Vascular Experts in Stratford, CT.

Dr Hsu, is the most excellent individual and the best in his field hands down. He is not only professional but personal. You have seen the rest now see the best!
