Dr. Richard John Barnett, MD

I wrote the "Disappointed" review 1 year ago, and I am not able to delete it; I was told to just write another review. After 1.5 years, I am now satisfied with my surgery results. The surgery results were different than what I expected, but I know it was a difficult surgery, due to trauma, and Dr. Barnett did a good job with what he had to work with. My significant other likes my new look better now, than before the trauma and reconstructive surgery.

I was disappointed with the surgery results, the repeated miscommunication, and the overall experience. I recommend going elsewhere for surgery.

In 2017 I had an initial septo-rhinoplasty done to fix a deviated septum. The surgery ended up being a complete failure and left me rather distraught. What was worse than the fact that my breathing problems had not been fixed, was the severe alteration that had been done to my nose and therefore the appearance of my entire face. My more candid friends and family admitted that I looked completely different. After meeting with several ENTs to discuss revision surgery, I was further discouraged when none had any confidence that they could fix the function and appearance of my nose. It was an extremely disheartening year and a half. However, each doctor that I spoke with referred me to Dr Barnett and explained that he was the 'go to' surgeon in the entire region. After speaking to Dr Barnett in person in late 2018 I felt impressed at the care he displayed in wanting to make my situation right, and the confidence he had that he could do so after so many other doctors had said they… couldn't. Because of my work we had to wait until May 2019 for the revision operation to be performed. The care and professionalism that Dr Barnett took in my operation cannot be overstated. We met multiple times before hand where he allowed me to address each and every concern I had. This also allowed us both to understand exactly what was to be expected on the day of surgery, and the results thereafter. Not only was the surgery itself as smooth as could possibly be expected, the recovery was a night and day difference from my first experience. Every aspect of recovery from the amount of bleeding/scabbing, to pain levels, to duration of the swelling was an immensely better experience than my first operation. Most importantly of all, he was able to improve my breathing and give me my face back after a year and a half of looking into the mirror and seeing a complete stranger look back at me. The relief I felt after seeing 'me' in the mirror again, cannot be described in words. I cannot thank Dr Barnett enough for the work he did and the vested interest he took in making things right for me.

My favorite thing about Dr. Barnett is his sincere no nonsense approach to patient care. I had a nose abscess that was continuing to get worse by the day. I had been to a civilian urgent care facility and to a civilian ER days prior to going to the ER on base. The ER referred me to Dr. Barnett who saw me immediately. He lanced the abscess and added topical antibiotics to the oral antibiotics that I was previously taking. Dr. Barnett continued to monitor me weekly until he was sure that the infection was clearing up. The fact that he put patient care above normal appointment protocol and saved any small talk until after he knew I was improving spoke volumes about his character. I wish all doctors had his bedside manner.

A little background... I had significant trauma to my nose as a kid (three time, exactly). As I got older the trauma started to be more noticeable in my breathing, etc. I had two prior surgeries where the plastic surgeon botched my nose. I was missing cartridge, I had bone growing on bone and creating a notable lump and pain, and a miss formed bridge of my nose. I started to have discomfort when wearing my glasses and while running. I had received a referral to another dr in the ENT clinic and wasn't pleased, so I decided I would just pay a dr downtown to fix everything. Thankfully before I came out of pocket $7,000 (which would have been worth it) I was told about Dr. Barnett. He was great in explaining everything to me, took his time in the operating room, and had great bedside manner. I love that I don't have any more pain and my nose is cute again!

Dr. Barnett is absolutely fantastic! I am thrilled with my results. He's professional and definitely a perfectionist; not to mention easy on the eyes!(;

Just when you think caring physicians no longer exist, you meet Dr Barnett. He cares and is passionate in what he does and does it very well. I've had a couple of procedures done and I'm thrilled with the results. I recommend him to all my friends and family for both ENT and plastic surgery.

This doctor was great and the surgery/recovery process was incredibly smooth! Dr. Barnett always answered all of my questions and seemed genuinely concern about well-being.
