Dr. Richards Adeleye Afonja, MD

I did extensive research ahead of scheduling my mother's oncologist appointment. Unfortunately, mammograms and ultrasound revealed breast cancer. My mom is in her late 70's. She is deaf and doesn't speak English. I needed to find a doctor that had many years of experience and who had excellent bed side manners. Dr. Afonja seemed to have that good ratings and reviews. After many months of radiation and weekly/monthly follow-up treatment visits with Dr. Afonja, he proved to be excellent. He is very caring, takes his time explaining medical tests, results, expected outcomes, prognosis and provided a thorough explanation of a recovery plan. He even provided us several times (without being asked) with his personal cell phone number should we have any questions or concerns. I did text him once with a question and he answered immediately. Which doctor does that in today's times? Not many.. Patients are usually instructed to call the office or on-call answering service who then relays the… messages. That is what I call top notch service. I highly recommend Dr. Afonja. Furthermore, I would like to thank him for going above and beyond in treating my mother. Thank you Dr. Afonja!!! Dr Afonja and his medical staff are very excellent very good at there jobs Dr Afonja saved my life twice i just had a major surgery that had to have a colostomy bag i went to dr afonja who again is saving my lufe God Bless Him thank you Doreen Ramos

Maximum of two hours wait. My father was scheduled 12 noon. Waited for an hour to be called in. Inside another 30-1 hr wait. If we wait this long why don’t they schedule the patient when the doc is already there. Oftentimes the doctor is not in yet thus the long wait.

Richard Afonja great doctor. Only have delt with the Paterson, NJ Location the staff always available and seems . I have delt with his NP Ireana, NP Dennis and doctor Guvam (?). They do everything for the paitent and in a timely manner.

Dr. Afonja is wonderful. I have also had great experiences with Dr. Gundavaram, Irina, Irene and his other nurse practitioners, who have been nothing but kind and compassionate towards me. I only wish his office was in a safer location and had later urgicare hours. My only critique is that occasionally, when the doctor or NP comes in to see me, a staff member interrupts to pull supplies out of the room cabinets.

He have to many different doctor treating me and the wait time is long it can be hours before being seen talk to patient for five or ten minutes and discharge staff is rude.

Wanted to give chemotherapy to a cancer that could not be treated with chemotherapy. Two other oncologist confirmed this. Thankfully, I did not listen to this man and got radiation from another facility instead.

Excellent doctor who saved my husband, when another doctor recommended taking his arm. Dr Afonja said no find another way. He is compassionate and knowledgeable doctor.

Excellent physician with good bedside manner. Took time to explain medical problems, treatment and side effects of chemotherapy to the family. Wonderful office staff. i strongly recommend him. Expensive cologne and sharp dresser!
