Dr. Robert Duane Strang, MD

Dr Strang cares nothing for your pain, feelings or future. Never have I met a colder Dr who could help, but refuses to in all my years. I was in tears as I left, having been told I deserved the chronic pain I have. No effort to provide help at all. If we were all as perfect as Dr. Strang, what a world it would be.

Tries to control your personal life, which is none of his business. Please if your on disability, and in need of surgery find a surgeon who actually cares, and won't try to control your personal life.

Dr strang is fabulous at what he does. He has done to cervical spine surgeries on me and always explained everything. No surprises

I had my first neck surgery with him and had a good experience. Things drastically changed when I had to switch from mercy to Cox which is where Dr. Strang is currently. I had to wait 4 months to get a primary to then refer me to Strang only to wait another 3 months. Finally I got to my appointment date and it was a terrible snow day everything was shutting down but I made it on time to my appointment only to wait an hour and a half between the two rooms only to be seen by another Dr to be told I needed an MRI which I knew. That was all fine I was fine. Skip to MRI and I had to cancel due to Strep throat. When I rescheduled I had been worried about the size of MRI chamber so I asked for the large one and this is where it all went downhill. Ann Marie who schedules was hateful about it; told me I would have to find my own then call them to schedule it for me. I was baffled at how in a hospital system like Cox as big as it is they would not know where the bigger ones are. I got off the… phone did my research found one ay the Martin Center; they were very sweet; but said I should not have had to find my own and that they knew. I then took this info back to Ann Marie and she was hateful, she got Strangs nurse who was rude about it and by this time I was feeling frustrated and I know I was ugly . The next thing I knew I had a letter dismissing me from his care which was written in a way that no other surgeon would see me and I called the complaint office which led nowhere. I was told I’d have to go back to Mercy but that meant I’d have no insurance there. I even apologized asked the head of his office to ask him to reconsider and look at my first surgery history with him and nothing. I was unable to get anywhere and now I’m still in pain and because I didn’t get it fixed when I could I am in a tough place now as I have no insurance! Let me be clear, he told me at the first surgery I needed a triple but I was too yong so they repaired the ruptured disc and two years later had a second, I have been in severe pain since a year before he dismissed me and it’s just getting worse. I am not a person who believes in suing people so I dropped it and at the time I was dealing with an addict who was headed for death! I feel like this could have and should have been different but I’ll be ok because I know God will take care of me but I think in this case he, Dr. Strang was wrong . I don’t know what changed in his life but it was a far different experience than the first!

I had a large tumor where the brain stem meets the spinal cord. My surgery was almost 12 hours. A surgeon in LR said they might be able to get 60% of the tumor and there probably would be side effects. I asked for a 2nd opinion with Dr. Strang. He was honest from the beginning. Bottom line...a year after my surgery i'm healthy and living my lifestyle because of his tenacity, skills and staff!

Glad I went to see this doctor. He was frank and honest with me about my condition (even though I wasn't honest with myself). My weight was a big part of my problem. Ultimately, I got better. But I couldn't have done it without his help. Thanks!

Terrible bedside manner. Arrogant and focused only on his "pre-determined" ideals as opposed to the actual issues I was having. Went twice, both times the wait area time exceeded 45 minutes and then I had to wait in the room itself for two hours the first time and an hour and a half the second time. Do yourself a favor find a doctor that treats the patients time and the patient themselves with more respect and concern.

Love that he takes his time to talk with me and doesn't make me feel like I need to rush. He does a great job of explaining things. He uses analogies which I love.

Wait time was a little longer than I would like but still not as bad as most doctors. Well worth the wait, though. I did not feel rushed and he really took time for my problem.

Went here on the recommendation of a friend. Glad I did!
