Dr. Saad Z Khan, MD

Saad Khan destroyed the trust that he had established with my son in one final session. He had the gall to charge him full rate for the 10 minute consult and placed all sorts of doubts in my son's mind by offering a haphazard on-the-way-out-door re-diagnosis. Avoid him.

Knows what he is doing. Very professional and ethical. Highly recommended.

This is a Dr. Who is highly recommended by Dr.'s around St. Louis Mo. They call him "the mixologist" because of his ability to get a patient's combination of medications to be a perfect fit immensely improving their life. He is an extradinary Doctor unwavering in his belief that you will improve....and you do improve. He saves lives that have given up hope. Our family will always be grateful.

I have been seeing Dr. Khan for about 6 years and unlike what I have heard from others about their psychatrist, Dr. Khan is not all about meds and pushing me out the door. He takes time to talk about my issues as well as any reservations I have with new meds as I tend to have bad reactions. If I have an issue, and call him; unles she is out of the country which is rare, he will respond to my calls quickly even if another doctor is on call. If I need an appoitment because I am having a crisis, I know that I can get in within 24-36 hours or that day if need be. Also, if I am admited to the hospital, he will take the time to either stop by or call and check on me after I am back at home.

Dr. Khan helped me get my life back on track. I saw several psychiatrists, but none of them were as helpful or smart as Dr. Khan. I was starting to lose hope until Dr. Khan treated me. He seems very educated, understanding, and intelligent. Overall, truly a compassionate human being dedicated to his patients.

I found this doctor to be very easy to talk to, he put me at ease. He came highly recommended as "the doctors doctor" and I was impressed by his clear explanation and depth of knowledge and willing to make me a partner in my care. I am doing very well, thanks to his good care.

The comments from others seem to swing from one extreme to the other. You go to see Dr. Khan because you have mental issues that need to be evaluated for medical treatment. Some are conditions are worse than others, and since you are there to see a psychiatrist your expectations may be unrealistic. There is not "one" magic pill that is going to fix all your problems (like the drug companies would have you believe). Dr. Kahn will unlikely "fix" you in one visit. The initial appointment takes quite a while to set-up, after that follow-up's are reasonably easy to schedule. He is very busy and he is not there to have you lie on the couch (like in the movies) and hear all your issues from chidhood to present. Hence his time is limited, but I have had no problem speaking frankly with him; questioning why he might be changing my med's; or asking his opinion on some treatment that I have heard about. I treat him with respect and get his in return. If you have diagnosed your own problem and… know from the ad's on TV, or in magazines, what he should prescribe for your condition you are likely going to be dissappointed. He is going to prescribe what he feels meets your needs the best for your condition. If you need intensive counseling, go to a good counselor. He doesn't write scripts on your recommendation unless it is something your GP has done and which appears to be working. If you are there just to get drugs, you are at the wrong place. I have found him very pleasant, educated, and feel very comfortable with the patient/doctor relationship that we have developed over the past two+ years. Results are not instantaneous. I am not completely well yet, but a heck of a lot better that I was a year ago; in part through counseling; medication and actions I have been willing to take responsibility for on my own. Too many folks generally hold doctor's to an unrealistic standard, without a corresponding standard of responsibility for their own well being. I appreciate Dr. Khan. If you don't "click" with him then find someone else, but don't bash him if you haven't done your homework or have unrealistic expectations. He will ween you off old med's when starting a new regimen, but you have the responsiblity to be honest with him and have the willingness to question changes he may make.
