Dr. Sarah Kate Mckay, MD

DO NOT get your DOT exam at Hutchinson Health, especially by this doctor! It costs $694, she talks down to her patients, has no compassion and does not follow DOT guidelines. Instead, she digs for a reason to deny. (I feel this was age discrimination.) In my spouse's case (I sat in on her appointment so witnessed it firsthand), she ordered medical records from 30+ years ago and required her to see a specialist, even though there was no medical reason to and her primary care physician (who is a GREAT physician and is also at Hutchinson Health Clinic) had advised Dr McKay on my spouse’s case and that there weren't any problems!!!! After jumping through all the hoops she required of her, which she should not have had to do, this doctor only approved her for 1 year, at which point she'd be expected to go back to her and pay another several hundred dollars. This will never happen. Go to North Memorial Health Clinic in Maple Grove, MN. It is significantly cheaper (it only cost $95… there 2 years ago) and they don't treat you so badly. My spouse would have gone back there, but her primary doctor is at Hutchinson Health Clinic and we thought we’d give Dr McKay a shot. Boy was that a bad idea. SENIORS BEWARE! Dr. Sarah McKay is a new MD in Hutchinson, MN. If you value your independence, or the independence of a loved one, do not allow this doctor near. On the VERY FIRST VISIT, Dr. McKay performed an evaluation leaving my mother unable to drive unless she jumped through the hoops of Occupational Therapy and/or passing a driving assessment. Mom has NEVER had a single driving infraction and is careful at self-regulating her driving. Dr. McKay didn’t even bother to check mom’s hearing, and one of her hearing aids wasn’t working. No medications were evaluated, no urine analysis taken to rule out a UTI, no family was contacted and no information provided to the patient as to available services in the community to aid in this major life change. She was prideful in her approach, defensive in her manner and has zero ability to show compassion and humility. Read her bio. Seniors are not her interest, nor are they her talent. I am having a hard time imagining what type of… patient she would be good with.
