Dr. Stephen Defronzo, MD

Dr. DeFronzo has treated my entire family, extended family, in-laws, nieces and nephews for Covid. He attacks Covid very aggressively and has from the start. We have had incredible results with this Doctor and I would recommend him to anybody. I guess you can never make everyone happy but as far as Far as his medical knowledge I believe it is up there with the best of the best and I work for a company that owns 12 hospitals I know many many physicians.

I have had a condition for 15 years that required 6 operations, despite a lack of diagnosis from my former U. Penn. graduate specialist Dr. I recently switched to Dr. D. He did 3 months of lab work and testing, the lab work still came out negative. Based on his experience he went with a hunch and tried three different medications. Voila, the third one worked, no more surgery. The point being, he didn't give up and didn't simply scratch his head and stop trying. His compassion and caring for his patients made him go the extra mile. This guy is the best!

Dr Defronzo is OUTSTANDING in every aspect. Answers all questions at length. Gives patients all the time they need. Friendly and truly WANTS to find the problem as well as the cure. Does not give up! He is one of the RARE doctors in our world today. We are fortunate to have him . Thank you, Dr. D!!

I would not recommend this doctor if you have been diagnosed or suspect you have Lyme disease. He dismissed the ILADS lyme symptom checklist I completed and brought with me and my blood work and lyme test results from well regarded Igenex. He was completely skeptical of my disagnosis, failed to ask any questions about my symtoms and dismissed everything I had to volunteer about my condition and didn't take me or any of my documention/lab work seriously. I am angry that I wasted my time and money going to him. He was more interested in being entertaining and appearing knowledgeable but offerred nothing to help me. He was openly skeptical of the medical profession, unprofessional, and arrogant stating "that he can go home and look in the mirror and feel good about himself". Seems he is his own biggest fan. Don't waste your time or money!

Great bedside manners. Takes his time to speak to you. Appears to really care about you and what is going on with you medically. The appointments are spaced out well so you don't have to wait long to see the doctor.

I find Dr.DeFronzo characteristics to be: very bright, very well informed, have a warm and caring manner, an attentive listener, commuicates well,excellent diagnosis, and an interest in all aspects of his patient's (my) health. His office is not flashy, but his performance and results are.

About two years ago, Dr. DeFronzo was treating me. At first, I thought he was a decent doctor. I discussed my symptoms, showed him my wound which I believed was infected. After looking at it for a brief moment, he said it wasn't an infection. He said it was something that a little cream could fix. He prescribed the cream and I used it as instructed. Guess what, the cream was a joke because I had an infection and what I needed was for the wound to be cultured and inspected. I also needed antibiotics. Without them, I got much worse!So I went back to him a few days later and showed it to him again but this time he said it was NOW an infection. He said, "It didn't look that bad a few days ago." That's absolute nonsense. It looked bad the first time and he could see I was in so much pain!!!! And of course it looked worse a few days later. He never treated my infection!!!So I was furious with him and went to my dermatologist and she recognized it was clearly an infection. She… told me that whatever doctor I went to in the first place (Dr. DeFronzo) I might reconsider my options the next time I need an infectious disease specialist. In fact, I came to find out later that while he calls himself a doctor, he doesn't even perform any type of surgery whatsoever. He doesn't lance or do anything of the kind. He doesn't even take a culture of the wound. He basically diagnoses without even getting in there to look closely at whatever it is that is bothering the patient. My advice is this: If you have to go to New York City to get a good or even great doctor as opposed to seeing this guy, who basically got his degree in Mexico, I would advise you to do so. He is absolutely one of the WORST doctors I have ever been to in my life!
